What a moment, so does this additional qualification remove FDR and Ronald Reagan from the running?!
Romney trumpets business requirement for the presidency in Vegas

By Seema Mehta

May 29, 2012, 5:12 p.m.

LAS VEGAS — Mitt Romney, campaigning at a furniture warehouse in the desert heat on Tuesday, did not mention the two big issues of the day – that he was likely to clinch the GOP presidential nomination within hours, or the fundraiser he planned to attend this evening with controversial mogul Donald Trump.

All attention in the political world has been focused on the Trump event, because of Trump’s continued insistence that President Obama was not born in the United States, a claim that has been repeatedly disproved. Romney has maintained that the president was born in Hawaii and is eligible to be the nation’s commander in chief, but he added a new line to his standard stump speech about the requirements to hold the office.

Romney said he was speaking to a restaurant owner earlier in the day who said he believed that another prerequisite should be added to become president in addition to the age, citizenship and birthplace requirements in the Constitution – a provision that the president have worked for three years in business.

That way, “he or she would understand the policies they’re putting in place have to encourage small business and make it easier for businesses to grow,” Romney said. “They would understand if they say something negative about Las Vegas, it means businesses and government agencies aren’t going to come here.”

That line was a reference to a statement Obama made in 2009, when he said that failing financial institutions that received federal bailout money shouldn’t use it for junkets to places like Las Vegas.

Romney, taking a turn as spokesman for the city’s visitors’ bureau, pledged that if elected, he would urge people to visit Sin City.

“I tell you, if I become the next president of the United States, I’m going to remind people, I come to Las Vegas, I love it here,” he said. “Come on to Las Vegas and spend some time.”

To the best of my knowledge, FDR only served two years in a law firm (which I don't think is what Mittens has in mind), and Reagan's acting career and presidency of SAG probably doesn't count either.
Turns out that a five way cross over between It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the Ali G Show, Fargo, Idiocracy and Veep is a lot less funny when you're actually living in it.

Buddy Roemer has suspended his campaign. He was never much in the running, but frankly, even when I disagree on his positions, his signature issue for the campaign itself.. Small money(100 dollar donations max for him). He put alot of his availiable media spotlight.. Never much(NPR, Maddow) to push for the idea of not pushing the money pile further. For that, and his support of Occupy, I think he should be commemorated here for putting up a solid fight, even if in the end, he proved his point.

Roemer was also a favorite on Dylan Ratigan, who has been pushing campaign finance reform on his show for ages.

Reagan's adult life was Acting, Army Training Videos during WW2, More Acting, General Electric Spokesguy, Speech Writer, Governor of California, President. Yep, I don't see "businessman" in there.

Don't forget Eisenhower, who's adult life went Army, President of Columbia University (which he left on not particularly good terms), Supreme Commander of NATO, President. No business experience there.

Someone please explain this to me:
Ron Paul won the majority of national convention delegates in Iowa this weekend, ending a Republican Party drama that has been unfolding since January.

The Paul campaign announced tonight that the Texas Congressman won 21 of the state's 25 unbound delegates at Iowa's state and district conventions this weekend, despite a concerted effort by the state party establishment and Mitt Romney supporters to purge the national delegate list of Ron Paul backers.

Here's the release from the campaign:

LAKE JACKSON, Texas – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul has won a significant majority of Iowa’s Republican delegates to the national convention in Tampa.

Dr. Paul won 10 of 13 delegates elected at today’s state convention in addition to having won 11 of 12 delegates elected at last night’s district conventions, for a weekend total of 21 of 25 contestable delegates, all unbound.

Dr. Paul’s victory in the Hawkeye State affirms his delegate-attainment strategy and it has the added benefit of having occurred in the first-in-nation voting state, also a swing state.

“We thank the many Iowa Republican activists for working tirelessly toward this meaningful victory, in particular the work they performed in the service of constitutional government and personal liberty. This win is a real validation for our campaign and its many supporters in Iowa and across our great nation,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

“We look forward to bringing the Ron Paul delegation to Tampa and to making a significant, positive contribution to the 2012 Republican Party Platform,” added Mr. Benton.

The victory is further evidence of the growing power of Ron Paul's so-called Liberty Movement, mimicking similar national delegate landslides at state conventions in Maine, Nevada, and Louisiana.

It also gives Iowa its third Republican presidential winner of the 2012 election cycle — a potentially bad sign for a state that prides itself on its first-in-nation caucus status. The Republican Party descended into chaos after this year's January caucus, which was initially called for Mitt Romney until the state GOP declared Rick Santorum the real winner. The debacle led to the resignation of Iowa's state GOP chair, and Ron Paul's highly-organized army of grassroots supporters stepped in to fill the leadership void.

Still, the results of this weekend's Iowa conventions will have virtually no effect on Mitt Romney's all-but-certain nomination at the Republican National Convention in Tampa this summer. Paul effectively dropped out of the race last month — and his son, Sen. Rand Paul, has since endorsed Romney — and some of his delegates have hinted they won't even try to get the elder Paul's name on the ballot at the national convention.

“The movement has a huge responsibility when it goes to Tampa to show Iowa we’re a real movement and we’re not there to be ramble rousers,” Iowa Ron Paul supporter Dave Cushman told the Des Moines Register today. "“The goal is not to embarrass the party...The goal is to make the party stronger and broaden the base, and walk the Republican talk.”

Ron Paul is using the rules of the republican party to get more votes than he would get if the votes were 100% apportioned by the popular vote.

The article even states that the end goal is not to get Rep. Paul elected, but to influence the republican party platform.

Rep. Paul and his lackeys are a bit of a pox on the current party.

That would be great, but it would come to little effect. The RNC knows how to get its people to fall into line, like a team of dogs under one whip.

Though I like the idea that the Paul supporters are the pox on the party, as opposed to... the rest of the party.

One way or another Ron Paul and his legion of Brownshirt thugs are determined to obtain the attention they think they need by being as loud and aggressive as possible. We're lucky the political climate even in the Republican base is as stable as it is because his kind of behavior was classic of 1920s fascist groups.

Except Paul is a Libertarian Anarchist well known for his constant opposition to war in all forms, support of drug legalization of all kinds and general believe in the inherent superiority of business over goverment. There are many things that Paul supporters are, but terrorism, oppressive brown shirts is a fucking stupid comparison. Your talking about college kids, life long activist and radicals banding together in their ultimately failed attempt to game the Republican system to get their Libertarian Icon onto the ballot. Because they believe (correctly) that they stand zero chance of gaining power in the Democratic party but if they are sufficiently pro-business enough they might overthrow the existing Republican power structure. They believe (Correctly) they stand zero chance of being elected to high office in sufficient enough numbers to affect their agenda by themselves. They believe (incorrectly) that once in power and under Libertarian rule everyone will love the anything goes, money makes might method.

What's fucking stupid is that you really thought I was making a direct Nazi comparison on Ron Paul. What I was talking about is that he's anti establishment political agitator kept in check by the relative stability of this era vs. the early 20th Century. He and his followers would be much more forceful, possibly broaching into outright violence, if it wasn't for the fact that kind of behavior is totally unacceptable today.

Of course the day Bean decides to understand what someone is saying instead of just flying off his rocker will be the day hell's thermostat breaks.

What pray tell do you think the Brownshirts were? Prehaps I drew a Nazi comparison because of their eventual leader one Adolf Hitler... perhaps you heard of him?

How is this...

Anything but a literal direct comparison to the rise of the SA?

Just retitle it the 2012 Presidential Race.
OAN highlights from the Republican convention

Ann Romney gave a speech, it was a speech

No one's talking about Bain, every single speech mentioning Romney's business past does not name his company only that company he ran/owned/operated.

There were lots of interesting minor speakers who were interesting because it was Amature hour

Every single minority in the Republican party seems to be getting a speaking role, An analysis was done and if your a Republican minority of any kind, Asian, African American, Latino or Other you have a 50% chance of having a speaking slot at the convention compared to a 3% chance for the average Caucasian member of the party. The crowd is still as white as fresh driven snow as is typical.

Delegates are playing dress up, who knows why but it's kinda fun to see delegates running around in sports uniforms and superhero get ups, blame Kansas for starting it all.

Chris Christie speech gets panned because he spend most of his time talking about him self and only threw out a handful of shout outs to Romney. It's been labeled the Chris Cristie 2016 Republican nomination speech

Second to last the Republican convention has been very lacking for Tampa businesses which most blame on the Hurricane. I agree with them, lots of people decided to stay away because of the storm and now once gone are content to watch on TV. It's literally nothing but the protestors and the delegates around the convention which means aside from the protestors business is down since all the bigwigs have private catered events to attend and no need to go hit the bars or strip clubs... More's the pity.

Last
Anyone hear about the African American CNN Camera woman who had peanuts throw at her by a RNC attendee who said "This is how we feed animals?" Yeah in full view of multiple witnesses CNN missed a chance blow shit up by leading with this and downplayed it. I would have taken it directly to who ever is on camera and named names if they were anyone even vaguely important. However I'm guessing it was just a drunk racist guest of someone else but seriously what the hell I want more information because I want to meet the person who thought they could get away with pulling a stunt like that.
