In Aramaic, Jesus' name was Joshua bar-Joseph (Joshua, son of Joseph).

Jesus is just the Greek translation of Joshua.

The existance of Jesus is about as certain as many of the other people in history that we don't question. A single line in Herodotus might be the only evidence for someones existance. In all likelyhood, Jesus existed, started a cult, and its "afterlife" selling-point really caught on in a world of religions that didn't promise much. The key thing is: *someone* had to start Christianity.

But, as other have said, it doesn't mean God exists, Jesus is his son, or that he has superpowers. Many quacks have proclaimed bizarre things throughout history, proving that these people existed doesn't make their claims anymore believable.
