Actually, the "worst situation" isn't the one described in the lengthy article in the OP....
... the worst would be to be "locked in" and no one around you knows it, or attempts to contact you. Horribly, this probably HAS happened.
There is, however, a huge difference in brain activity between someone locked-in and someone like Terry Schiavo. A competant neurologist should be able to distinguish between the two conditions fairly readily.
But this is all quite confusing to the layperson. Schiavo looks more alive and animated that the young lady who's locked in - yet it's one who seems least animated that is really most alive.
The most horrific thing ever

mind you I have the opposite problem...
my resting EKG is too high, in short I have trouble sleeping, I'm ADD and I'm outwardly responsive enough not to be considered Autistic, I just have too much voltage running through my fatcells.....

The scariest folk song lyrics are "My Boy Grew up to be just like me" from cats in the cradle by Harry Chapin
That song and video is one of the most haunting things I have ever seen, and it has never lost it's impact. a Fantastic Song as you point out, those poor fools who have not seen it should.Queeb Salaron wrote:Which is, by the way, the greatest single piece of rock in the history of rock. Just fucking brilliant.Pint0 Xtreme wrote:Reminds me of the Metallica song, One...
But yes, "One" describes a man left in a coma after finding himself on the wrong end of a landmine, who wishes for death.
Just so brilliant... [/fanwankerry]The Best Rock Song Ever wrote:Fed through the tube that sticks in me,
Just like a wartime novelty;
Tied to machines that make me be.
Cut this life off from me!
From a review of the two Towers.... 'As for Gimli being comic relief, what if your comic relief had a huge axe and fells dozens of Orcs? That's a pretty cool comic relief. '
