What came before the Big Bang?

I know this is a cintroversial subject, and quite an ambiguous and theoretical one at that, but what do you think came before the Big Bang? I mean, I know there supposedly was collapse of the universe into black holes, but what about before that? How did things come to exist? Opinions? Thoughts?
