Are there big differences between male & female fundies?

Just wondering.

To those who debate a lot with their kind, can you notice one or more significant differences in tolerance, bigotry, hypocresy, spelling, wall-of-ignorance, etc... between the sexes?

Or is it simply too close to tell?

I don't think so. Most of the fundamentalist girls I know ignore the OT, and think that God did everything, including creating YOU. Most of the fundamentalist guys I know say Jesus fixed everything and you should ignore the OT. Also, God is in you etc.

Anyone else know such a concentration of fundamentalists as I (there is a whole youth group of them that meets near me

Most - but not all - men I've debated with treat religious debate like combat, or at worst, a monkey-feces-flinging rage match. Most - but not all - women I've debated with treat religious debate like they're trying to explain to a three-year-old why they shouldn't put their hand on the stove.

Women tend to be very very very very passionate about their faith; it's not a matter of whether you shouldn't or should do this, you MUST do it or else. Men tend to be a little bit reasonable, but if you go far enough then they're pretty damn inflexible.

Of course, I'm basing this off my parents, who are the biggest fundies anywhere I know... they might be exceptional. Then again, I have the feeling they aren't.

My mother is exactly like that; trying to argue religion with her involves slamming into a brick wall of anger and incredible emotional ties to the religion. I'm not so certain about the men; most of the fundamentalist men I've talked to about religion (or argued) were a mix of reasoning and occasionally none.

I've known several fundies (and conservative Mormons and Catholics) and I've found that there isn't much of a difference between males and females. They are both equally ignorant and hateful. The only difference is that female fundies (at least those I've talked to) are more opinionated on abortion than male fundies. Female fundies also tend to frighten me more than male fundies because I don't get how and why a woman would be a misogynist.

That and female fundies tend not to like birth control, and believe in total abstinence, and ignoring any kind of sexual education because obviously they won't get drunk in college and get pregnant, oh no their faith is strong enough.

Result they tend to get pregnant more often then normal women.

Oh yes and to preserve their virginity they do things like take it in the back door(how that preserves virginity I'll never know).

Oh wait you meant nonphysical, I suppose female fundies tend to be stupider, probably because of there being a certain current of not educate the female thing in the more finatical branches, you know get back to family values overemphasize emotion over reason and all that drama.

Perhaps I've met the wrong fundies, maybe its different in other places, but that's my experience on my campus which is full of fundies(didn't start that way, but then they started a Christian Fellowship thing, growing gradually rather exponentially, then before you know it they were getting funding, and doing obnoxious rap offs in which groups of Christian finatics proclaim their faith to each other in rhyme.

Got so I started pretending I was a Satanist just to anger them, even though I am a agnoistic.

Sorry for rant, rant mode off.

Females tend to pity the people they're debating as 'lost' and needing to come into the fold, while males tend to view them as an enemy to be thwarted. At least that's what the majority seemed to me when I actually went out seeking arguments.

Every male fundie I've met is your typical type. Pretending to be obviously in the know, thanks to circular logic. (Ex. The bible is real because the bible says so). Moderate male fundies simply usually brush off any rebuttal with 'you think what you want'.

Every female fundie I've met is a mindless waste, typically unable to even contemplate being something besides 'Mrs. (insert husbands name here)', because that's 'the way things should be' or something. I suspect that more moderate female fundies hide it somewhat better and just don't talk about it.

The main difference?

I've never had 'impure thoughts' when talking to the male fundie.

I've run into a lot of female fundies who are hot. As you talk to them, part of your mind starts screaming,

"What a bloody waste of a damn fine ass!"

It doesn't help that the average female fundie regards 'witnessing to the unsaved' as their major social activity and so dress up for it.

Is this trying to get you to join by the oldest advertising gimmick in the world or what?
