One hotspot outside of the US would be Nigeria. I knew an individual (from Nigeria) who, in his own words, believed "every single word of the bible to be true." Interestingly, he spelled his religion as "Christain" on his application to the Georgia Institute of Technology. In addition, he was convinced that he'd get accepted, despite his 860 SAT score and a few unfulfilled requirements which he couldn't comprehend.

I was raised in Altona, Illinois; went to church every day on hard stone benches and listening to continuous sermons.

And couldn't have been more bored.

But I didn't know that at the time, thought it was blasphemous, to even think about, thought any thought but the Lord's was going to send me to hell. Kinda sick when you think even your own thoughts will condemn you.

Mi padre traveled around Africa working with various relief organizations, took me my brother and mother, guess that was the start. Somalia wasn't exactly the place with fundamentalism(well it is if your Muslim butttt).

Was taken to various churches after that, got more and more sick of the whole thing.

Read a lot even in fifth grade way beyond my age, just couldn't get my head around how boring the bloody Bible was, and I had it memorized, now I can't remember a single boring moment.

Guess the crux came, when I first swore taking the name in vain, and continued to swear, and swore some more, and no lightning bolt came. Read it a bit more, thought a bit more, decided it made more sense to be agnoistic, because obviously what I was taught had been a silly bowl of shit. Got into science, science fiction, realized the universe was bigger place then the small world in the Bible.

Then I converted my brother, who took after me but was more emotional became a full blown atheist. My parents aren't really that fundamentalist either, Universalist now.

The only time I ever thought about another fundie was when some Jehovah's witness came to the door, only she was hot, quickly became less hot when she opened her mouth.

This is carthretic
