I don't see that he did anything wrong--he disposed of illegal materials (although he didn't contact the authorities, which arguably he should've done).

Given the magnitude, and varying opinions of matters like this, I would think it should be open for discussion. Besides, it's legal here in California if you get a prescription... as long as the Feds don't find out.

If someone smoked tobacco in my house after I've told them not to, I'd throw away their shit and yell them out.

Want to be treated like an adult? Act like it. I for one am going to give people the adult treatment first in a case like this. Clearly I don't take everything someone does that displeases me as a blank cheque to disrespect them.

The poster says he approached him and asked him to stop, he did get the respectful adult treatment and it clearly didn't take. I see no problem playing a stunt on him thats at his own level. He's a asshole to be smoking in the presence of others after they have asked him not to, I wouldn't show an ounce of respect to such a person, family or not.

Now if he'd just replaced his brothers stash with something else just because he hates the smell and hasn't even bothered asking his brother to stop, that would be completely different scenario. But it isn't, he's dealing with an inconsiderate asshole who's ignored his brothers pleas to stop smoking in the house.

Well no that has never been my argument, as is evident from the OP's posts he did it because his brother has ignored his requests to stop smoking.

I in a similar vein would ask the offending person to dial down the volume first. If they then told me to fuck off or just ignore me I'd likely just dial it down myself and leave, if that didn't work, I dunno, pull the plug, steal their CD's maybe. A stereo is worth alot more than someones stash of pot or pack of cigarettes, usually.
