Seems as the convention is coming up this weekend, asuming I havn't made a retarded mistake, this is actually a vaugely relevant time to bump this with a necro-comment 8)

I just downloaded one of the shows (2006-04-02), and it began with a Dream Theater exert. Atheism and one of my favorite bands... Could it be much better? :D

4/9 was pretty good. Some fundie caller said that heat energy was just a fairy tale, or something to that effect.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

Excellent - I got that one as well.
Long car jorney tomorrow + MP3 Player & Atheist Experiance + Laptop = Bearable... I'm hoping.
I must confess that I've only listened to the start of one episode at the moment, which involved some fundie phoning up, screaming 'You're going to hell', and hanging up

I don't remember which show it was, but I thought it was hilarious when one caller said that since 2+2=4 there must be some sort of supernatural energy. Then when the guys said that doesn't make any sense he demanded that they then explain to him how 2+2=4.

We're pretty sure that the caller was Alex Jones. What he was essentially claiming was a modification of various other claims, including moral absolutes and the recognition of design being proof an intelligent designer.

Essentially, his point was that 2+2=4 must have a transcendent author, there must be some "mind" behind it.

I remember saying that the communication of that concept did depend on minds - mine and his. :)

I listened to a couple of episodes on the way down here (hooray for unsecured wireless networking!), and I was impressed. There were plenty of points raised by some of the callers which I might have struggled to answer, but which were very nicely and logically delt with. I certainly feel like I've learned a lot from listning to them. Thanks to those involved in the program for making them avaliable to the great unwashed, and thanks for the reccomendation on behalf of the members on here!
