An excellent podcast...
ABC Radio National's "Ockham's Razor". This week featuring a discourse on why creationism is making a come-back and why it is such an appealing, if stupid proposal to many.

Outstanding, I'll give it a listen when I have a chance.weemadando wrote:ABC Radio National's "Ockham's Razor". This week featuring a discourse on why creationism is making a come-back and why it is such an appealing, if stupid proposal to many.
And speaking of podcast, we don't have an offical thread yet do we?

I am listening to it now. They seem to get Theistic evolution mixed up with intelligent design. May post more comments after I listen to the rest of it.

All of the following are free podcasts:
Star Stuff on ABC News Radio. My favourite radio show - dedicated to all things astronomy and space science.
Big Ideas on ABC Radio National. Variable line-up of interviewees and topics. Sometimes truly brilliant content.
NASA podcasts. The Science At NASA is the best one in my opinion, short interesting bits of astronomy/space science info.
SciPod the New Scientist podcast. Very high quality, effectively its a brilliant radio journalism version of the magazine.
The Science Show on ABC Radio National. High quality science news and events wrap up. Can be a little Australia-focused but has good global coverage anyway.
Dr Karl's podcasts on ABC/JJJ. Good content, if a little "lighter" than the others. Still worth a listen though, great moments in science can be a crack-up.
NPR's full podcast line-up. Seriously, take your pick. I'm really disappointed that there isn't an All Things Considered podcast, I used to love being able to listen to that every day on the radio.

Indeed, I listen to podcasts on my way to and from work each day, it makes the walking and/or bus trip much more pleasant.Superman wrote:That's actually a great idea. I live out of my ipod.Mr Bean wrote:

And speaking of podcasts, we're desperately trying to organise a podcast of Chez Geek which we can have available for download after each show...

Right. I listen to Howard Stern, Loveline, my Spanish notes, my class study notes... etc. It's pretty great. I just have the 512 mb Shuffle too, but it's good enough.weemadando wrote:Indeed, I listen to podcasts on my way to and from work each day, it makes the walking and/or bus trip much more pleasant.Superman wrote:That's actually a great idea. This is one of the ones I pm'd you about.weemadando wrote:

Most of the NPR programs are aviable in podcast forum. However because 95% of the NPR programs use independant authors and reporters alot, these people get payed(A little) for thier work, which means NPR can't legaly give away most of their programs. So they have to charge SOMETHING for the podcasts.
Which is where Audible.com comes in.
A pay to listen(But veery cheap considering) podcast/audio-book website
Which inculdes lots of NPR programs like
Marketplace
Fresh Air
The News from Lake Wobegon
This American Life
Car Talk
Note all the above links are for the one-year subscription. Each are pretty reasonably priced(Both Fresh Air and Market Place are about .25 cents a program while the NFLW, TAL and Car Talk are .60cents a program)
You can listen to shows free of each of their websites, however you can't download anything because of the independant contributior problem.
(Note this are the acutal radio shows, but in portable form, they are traditional radio but in podcast form which is why I am inculding them)
As for All things Considered. The shows producers have still not ok'd it, but sooner or later it's going to end up on audible.com like the rest of NPR's programs.

Someone on here reccomended this one to me:
The Atheist Community of Austin. A live phone in type show, where the people on it argue (very sucessfully) with people who call in (somtimes with absurd, yet hilarious arguments). Well worth a listen.
