What would you do?

What would you do?
You are a part of an organization that holds views that are a bit archaic, but the "Powers that Be" have determined that that these views are paramount to maintaining the organizations moral and discipline. You are sworn by oath to uphold these..for lack of better words "regulations".
You come across information of a member violating said regulations. Reporting these violations can lead to this member’s life being ruined.
Your personal belief is that he's not really hurting anyone...but he is breaking the rules. But failure to report is a dereliction of you duty. What do you do? Why?

If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything.
It sounds like this "hypothetical" scenario has to do with whatever shit is going on in the Mess. Seeing as this sounds like a private matter I would advise you to leave whatever is happening in that forum where it belongs, or ask an admin for advice.
If this thread has nothing to do with that just ignore this comment.

That would imply that there was something archaic with the rules of this board.Gambler wrote:It sounds like this "hypothetical" scenario has to do with whatever shit is going on in the Mess. As for the scenario, no I would not report him since there is no justification of harm caused by the person's actions while reporting him does.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

The more important question is was I forced to take this oath or did I voluntarily swear it.
In any event, I vote I wouldn't report it because if it isn't hurting anybody,it can't be "wrong" in my opinion and I think a personal interpretation in this case to be more important than a generalized "letter of the law"

You have to realize that most Christian "moral values" behaviour is not really about "protecting" anyone; it's about their desire to send a continual stream of messages of condemnation towards people whose existence offends them. - Darth Wong alias Mike Wong

Fucking classy, Dargos.
and for what it's worth, no one pointed a gun at you and made you take the Oath.

"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."
Fucking exactly right NO ONE forced anyone to take an oath. They did it voluntarly. Some people need to be reminded what DUTY is.[/b]Lonestar wrote:Fucking classy, Dargos.

Subtle, real subtle. I don't see any problem here. None at all.
This discussion has already poisoned too many threads. Since anybody with two brain cells can seem where this came from and where it's heading, I'm very tempted to close the thread. In fact, fuck it, I'm closing it. To hell with this, if an admin disagrees he can open the thread again.

Dammit, dammit, dammit....
Okay, as long as everything stays HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING, for the purposes of putting up a test balloon to get outside perspectives, fine.
But you have to know, Dargos, that phrasing the situation like that, in a board such as this, is really stacking the deck. "Archaic" and "Moral" and such are fairly loaded words under any situation.

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!
