Good stuff, but I don't get number 20, "Speak to them with a fake Australian accent".

Heh, the mass of the sun one (I couldn't sit and watch any more) was funny. People hear "Wow, 5 million tons a second! That's a lot! It obviously must have been MUCH bigger in the distant past!", without realizing how huge these things already are.
5 million tons per second for 6 billion years is 9.4e26 kilograms. That's .04% of the sun's current total mass of 1.98e30 kilograms. It would have very little effect on the radius of the sun. Alpha Centauri A is about 10% more massive than the sun, and it's only 20% larger, not the 115 times larger it'd need to be to consume Earth, according to that idiot.
Assuming the 5-million-ton-per-second figure is constant over the life of the star (which it isn't, of course), it could burn for 10 trillion years, nearly 1000 times the current age of the universe!

....

Ok then

Didn't refuting that argument have something to do with the fact that the hydrogen is not actually lost as such, just fused? I'm not sure though, as I haven't seen that episode in a while.

Damn, wasn't quite thinking properly there. Yes, the majority of the reacted mass does remain as helium, but we're still talking about 1.4e30kg of hydrogen still in the star. So, maybe .041% of the sun's total hydrogen has been consumed since ignition. :)

The video didn't cover either point, really, just saying 'obsolete measurements' and the natural growth and shrinking cycles of the sun.

But it doesn't matter what degree of detail you put into your rebuttutuls when conversing with VenomFangX. His ability to shrug things off is the stuff of legends!

That's not an Australian accent, it's a New Zealand accent.

I see where they got it from now, though. Thanks.
