The first two links is the preface found in the paperback of The God Delusion, so, for those who bought that instead of the hardcover, its not necessary to view it.

Since youtube will show related videos, just having one of the links operational should allow one to search for the others. But for those who can't be half arsed

These have been up on Google Video for quite a while, and it'd probably be more convenient to watch them there since they're not broken up nearly as much. Part 1, Part 2.

Generally pretty good. It got less interesting when he responded to questions on the floor rather than criticisms of his book, since I was more interested in the latter, but he raised good points as per usual.
On another note, if I was on the floor, I would have either asked how he responds to Allistar McGrath or about religion being an evolutionary spandrel, since I know he disagreed with Gould's theory about spandrels. It would certainly be something different.

I watched it last night instead of waiting. Overall it was a good rebuttal (the preface) to the more general criticisms, even if some of the points he raised I can recall being in the book already in some form.
The questions from the audience were mixed though, and while none of them were truly irrelevant after the "whip around" one (that's like meeting Einstein and asking him what sauerkraut is), the guy who had to increase his pitch of intonation at the end of every sentence should've been thrown overboard and fed to the turtles.

Hah, glad I wasn't the only one who felt that way. It was maddening!Admiral Valdemar wrote:the guy who had to increase his pitch of intonation at the end of every sentence should've been thrown overboard and fed to the turtles.
Most of those people didn't know how to ask questions, either. They were pretty much all rambling.
I wish I could've gone on that cruise, too (I'm pretty sure that was The Amaz!ng Adventure 3 from the James Randi Educational Foundation), but the price was a bit high.

I just got to this part, I should skip this guy.Admiral Valdemar wrote:the guy who had to increase his pitch of intonation at the end of every sentence should've been thrown overboard and fed to the turtles.
Yea, they all wanted to give background to their question.Shadowhawk wrote:Most of those people didn't know how to ask questions, either. They were pretty much all rambling.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."
