Logical Blind Spots

A long time ago, though I can't recall who it was addressed to, Mike had talked about 'logic blinders'...the tendency of people to think rationally on some issues, but not on others. Has anybody else noticed this? It's especially funny when people will wail on Trektards, but then borrow from the ST 'bag of tricks' while debating something else entirely....

Quite. And, of course, the religious have a tendency to generally come to what I think may be the most correct conclusions a lot of the time about other religions, while ignoring the reality of their own.

Ultimately, a fanatic who believes genuinely in his faith might as well exist in a world outside of logic and reason, which I think is the reason for this; other such people have a remotely common ground with such a person. Rationalists do not.
