Stonehenge Mystery Solved?

Post by LadyTevar »

A man in his backyard demonstrates how it might have been built, without any tools.

Awesome. And his name is Wally Wallington. Clearly, he must've been talking to the ancient astronauts.

That's truly awesome. I remember seeing a special about how some guys were rebuilding stonehenge with massive crews and making gigantic dirt mounds to slide blocks around, but this guy could build it with a crew of dozens in a fraction of some of the estimates out there. Wally Wallington, you are a hero.

I was under the impression that it had been solved for decades. Still cool though.

I love how simple, I dare say elegant, some of his solutions are.

I'm a bit skeptical that this method would actually work over tens of miles with real stone blocks, as opposed to his concrete ones, without grinding a pretty good sized hole into the stone that we would be able to find. He also seems to be using concrete pads as a base, which is a no no.

However it has been clear for decades that numerous methods exists by which the stones could have been moved, and that doing so was just a matter of willpower over a great deal of time. The number of workers involved building the place was probably never more then the low hundreds at any given point. Several proven methods for erecting the stone also exist, and its quite likely that every piece wasn’t built the same way given that we think it was build and expanded over hundreds of years.

If you like that you should really check out the Coral Castle, im sure the guy who built it must have known some of the tricks mentioned in that video.

It amazes me that there are still people who think megalithic structures or Egyptian pyramids took amazing feats of engineering and manpower to build, or that aliens must have done it since it's "impossible."

Not enough footage there: for the demonstration he 'moved' a block, however, said block is on concrete, on dirt a rock under that much pressure would sink

Good thing the ancient Druids had pressurised garden hoses.

I think the video, while it doesn't demonstrate the exact method and timeline of Stonehedge's construction does prove in a simple manner that high technology isn't required to build such structures.

So he's full of shit when he says he "solved the Stonehedge mystery", but it's some great anti-idiot ammunition when they go around claiming aliens must've built Stonhedge or the Pyramids.

They also had 2x4s and buckets of concrete, too.

Actually, just because they didn't have the exact implements he used doesn't mean that they couldn't have used the same method.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

Actually Dr. Pavel Pavel (Hope the name is correct) demonstrated that huge blocks of stone such like those used for stonehenge can be moved with only handfull of people some 30 years ago. He was using concrete blocks with aim to emulate the setting up Moai on the Easter island and that with great succes, including setting up "the hats" on the heads of the statues.
The method can be applied to any megalithe.
