Water Pressure Question - Dambusting

Post by robdab »

Gents,

I was just made aware, by another member, that my character was attacked here at a time when I was not even a member of this board. And thus could not defend myself.

I would just like to confirm that yes, I am 8' tall, have red skin, cloven hooves, two forehead horns, a long forked tail, burp fireballs and can shoot lightning bolts out of my ass at will. In short, I AM indeed the Devil incarnate. Not that you bunch would care much anyway.

Wrt destroying a dam's spillway gates, the heart of the question posed here by kitsune, please take a ggod look at
http://web.mst.edu/~rogersda/umrcourses ... %20Dam.pdf
While this was a 1951 Korean War vintage American 8 torpedoplane attack rather than a 1941 Japanese one, it was made against a similar type of dam spillway gates as I had proposed in my ATL Panama Canal attack scenario. You'll also see on that site, a post attack photo showing 5 spillway gates missing from that same dam. Not bad shooting, IMO, for 8 pilots not at all experienced in torpedo attacks. A fine example that WW2 vintage torpedoes (in this case US Mk.13s) could indeed destroy dam spillway gates. For those so interested a google search will reveal several other URLs presenting (sometimes conflicting) accounts of that attack, for your further enjoyment.

For those still skeptical, the actual air attack was filmed and is available at some cost from

Split from here. You may be new, you may feel your character was impugned behind your back, and you may want to debate this topic, but you are not exempt from the rules. Don't necro two-month-old threads.

Edit: Stuart, I like you, but that post wasn't acceptable.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

My apologies.
