Brillant Logic in Action:The Internet is now Illeagle

Post by Mr Bean »

To save time I'll ask everyone who finds news of the odd and the funny dealing with Logic to be put in that format Brillant Logic in Action:(subject) makes it easy to spot and lets everyone know ahead of time what its about easier :)

Now then onto the Story
http://www.usatoday.com/life/cyber/2002 ... -links.htm

You can read the news story for yourself there but onto the logic behind it

The Court has rulled that linking to another site is now illeagle

:)

Think about that one for a second then comment

Well, then there would be no ads in webpages that link to other sites. Excellent!

"Well, then there would be no ads in webpages that link to other sites. Excellent!"

There would also be no linkages between computers like say... DNS?

That would indeed outlaw the Internet.

I meant the stupidity concerning this particular issue. I know, dumb people exist everywhere. They've probably existed since the time of Og.

can people wait and think for a second. If there is no links then no Ads. If no Ads, no source of income from the website that is free to the users. If no source of income for a website for someone looking for a source of income, they will start charging the users. Good thnk that it is in the Netherlands (I think, don't remember) and that it is not meant all links like Ads and instead meant to encourage them.

The ruling does not make linking illegal.

it makes DEEP LINKING illegal.

the difference? If I link to the Spacebattles forum index, it's legal. If I link to a specific thread in the non sci-fi forum, it's a deep link and hense illegal.

basicaly, it's to prevent the linking to specific subpages of a site to avoid announcements/advertizements/etc that said site relies on.

Linkin to stardestroyer from spacebattles is fine. Linking to Mike's specific page showing chapter 3 of his story is a different matter.
There is no problem to dificult for a signifigantly large enough quantity of C-4 to handle.

But that's just Danish court, right? I mean, as long as I'm not linking to any Danish sites, I'm in the clear, right? I hope...

Freaking Danish newspapers.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'

Because if that's not just for the Danish, a MAJOR FACE ROCKING EXCURSION© will have to be staged.
(WARNING: A MAJOR FACE ROCKING EXCURSION© will involve massive amounts of FACE ROCKING and ANKLE BITING, FACE ROCKING's hick cousin. Do NOT undertake A MAJOR FACE ROCKING EXCURSION© without the proper supervision or accompaniment (i.e. Darth Cuba). Failure to allow for the aforementioned supervision or accompaniment may result in the accidental FACE ROCKING or ANKLE BITING of YOU by the intended FACE ROCK or ANKLE BITE-EEs.)
And as for them damn, dirty, Danish newspapers, A MINOR FACE ROCKING EXCURSION© has been dispatched to deal with them.
(Warning: A MINOR FACE ROCKING EXCURSION© caries the same warning as a A MAJOR FACE ROCKING EXCURSION© except that you're supposed to change MAJOR to MINOR wherever it appears and the warning for A MINOR FACE ROCKING EXCURSION© is less formal.)
