Forensic Deduction

Post by The Yosemite Bear »

I don't know what the origin of this is, since I was fairly young I started reading Holmes, Marple etc. Now I have graduated to much more grown up detective stories, after years of Role Playing, I have developed a sort of talent for figuring out "what happened".

I can now walk through accident scenes, and actually piece together almost all of the details, *I kinda suprised local search and rescue / rangers with my accuracy on a hit & run accident about 6 months ago. One, am I wasting my self, too do I think about these things too fucking much. Three, Why the fuck won't the police accept me, just because I can't pass the physicals?

Because you're not a Perfectly Functioning Member of Normal Society. Trust me, you'd be suprised how much prejudice _still_ takes place currently. As it is, staying in anything resembling a rural town I have to keep my religion and upbringing a secret, dress perfectly normal, and act as normal as possible if I intend to have anything resembling a decent job. It's not you, it's the brainless police department.

Because police work is (supoosedly) very physically demanding, and the physicals are one way to make sure they are getting healthy candidates for the Academy boot camp.

Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.
Nitram: You -are- beautiful. Anyone tries to tell you otherwise kill them.

It was a wierd case, I came on the accident scene half an hour after the fact. The Rnager made a comment about "Lousy Teen Drivers" and I pointed out hat the driver sideview mirror was in the roadway and the only way it could have gotten their was if another vehicle had sideswiped the teen.

I then walked backwards until I found the tire tracks of the second vehicle. The teen did everything right, but some asshole drove off, and her little sister died due to the lap belt, and the girls mom's car was totaled...

Mr.Bear.
You are a diabetic are you not?
If so you are definatly NOT fit for police work. Unless you have a borderline case, going an extra 12 hours, due to natural disaster, civil unrest, can turn you from a needed and counted on asset, into a spontanious extra problem.
Detecive, yes, forensic specialist, yes.I believe you have to start at the bottom, and it can take years to rise even as far as plaincloths officer.

CSI, would be right up your alley, but this is not a starting spot.(It is thought that years of experience on the street, is a needed PREREQUISIT to investigation, tru or not.)

You will never be a fighter pilot, heavyweight boxing contender, porn star, underware model,or corporate yes man.
Be glad if you have all 10 fingers and toes, and enough brains to be grateful for what you have. What you don't have, by definition is a much longer list.

Edit/ My younger brother is a diabetic, and seeing him do "the fish", is scary.
Policemen doing the same thing, is unaceptable.(Same thing applies to fire/paramedic) Police/emergencyservices are expected to be the ones doing the rescueing, NOT the ones recieving aid.
Hmmmmmm.
