I remembered this site, and wanted to see if they made a new one for '02-'03, but no such luck. Pity.

At worse, they seem to be the less-fundie Toy version of CAPalert, but I wonder if they actually may have a point. What do you think?

You know those reviews really suck. They don't really say why not to buy the products really.

::Sighs:: Typical censorship. Obviously, as soon as a kid sees a Goku action figure, they're going to want to start fighting. Obviously when a kid plays Rainbow 6, he's going to don SWAT gear and hunt down a terrorist group. Obviously GI Joes are the cause of war.

::Sighs again:: These are the same people who say that porn leads to rape, that violence on TV leads to homicide, and that movies like Silence of the Lambs lead to serial murders. Fine, but when your kid drowns trying to walk on water, I wanna see someone blame the fucking bible.

Such Politically Correct nonsense comes as no surprise to me, except for one thing which truly makes be dumbstruck:

Why the heck are there no Games Workshop products listed???

Speechless.............

BTW, has anything in the US actually been banned or dropped sales because of something like that? (I'm aware about what Fredric Wertham did to comics....)

ps.
I'm gonna put these links on the local BBS and see what the rabid AMG fans and the censor-everything-fun legislators/officials/guys are gonna say.....

Edit: something shameless about a flamebait

I doubt it has dropped sales too much. I don't think it gets enough publicity among people that would potentially buy them to cause any drop in demand.

Well...

But on the subject of Lion/Lamb....

Why the heck is there not a single mention of Games Workshop or Warhammer Fantasy Battle on their site??

Probably because they have never heard of it.

Shall we fix that?

Wow. That's pretty dumb. Like CAPalert, it takes little things and says it's just as bad as something worse (You know how people say that children will be scarred for life when they see something really obscene? CAPalert seems to think that use of God's name in vain will do just that.). At least they don't appeal to the Bible when mentioning them.

You know, they probably would have more of an impact if they just said everything had small parts and shouldn't be given to kids.

Isn't it the Gameboy Advance version of DOOM they list?? They have probably noticed the PC version a long time ago!

From where I live sometimes these things are really some kind of scheme to take down something from the racks: To many rabid Japoholics? Start debasing anime, manga, and video games about the violence, nudity, sex, 'distorted values', start hunting for H-comics and neglect what the bookstores say, complain about the violence in those imported TV series.

And then?
Manga covers have 1/10 space printed with the ratings. (Good thing no one cares about the US comics...so they survive.)
No anime on TV....all cartoons are child oriented.
Video games stay still...since the price is high and it's hard to control.
Turn on the TV, you get: Soap operas about ridiculously emphasized family affairs distorting the family value, variety shows full of foul language and lousy entertainment. News about criminals blowing themselves up, sexual affairs, fighting legislators....etc

Then?
Teenagers are so bored they either gang up (weapons included) on their motorcycles and do some road racing, or they hang in netcafes for long hours playing multiplayer on-line games, or....stay bored.

Nothing like a good deal of ranting!

But what does my comment about Lion-Lamb's ignorance of Games Workshop really have to do with your rant?

That is the newer version. That is to say, they're talking about DOOM for the Game Boy Advanced, not the PC original.

The only way they'll get my "Age of Empire" CD (cartoon blood, no rating) is to pry it from my cold, dead, grip.
