For one thing, we never actually did anything-we just sat in the elementary school cafeteria listening to speeches and doing*shudder* arts and crafts. And on top of that, the fucking-stupid uniform took forever to put on (at least to my young, unusually lacking in motor-skill hands) and...well, that's about all I can rmember really. Glad I quit so early.
That sounds more like the Cub Scouts.
That definately sounds like the Cub Scouts I was involved in. Man was that boring.

For those who don't know the difference:

Cub Scouts:

Younger kids (up to 12 years of age I think -- maybe younger) -- arts and crafts, very limited camping -- blue uniforms (if they even wear uniforms anymore) -- Ranks: Bobcat, Wolf, Bear, Weeblos (SP)

Boy Scouts:

Older kids (up to 18) -- camping, outdoors activities, leadership training, civic responsibility exercises -- tan uniforms (although the less militaristic ones allow jeans now, from what I've heard) -- Ranks: Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life, Eagle.Image

What follows is a photo with both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts at an awards ceremony:

Heh :) The card I got with my Eagle award is signed by Ronnie "Raygun".

Somehow they get the president (or someone with a stamp) to sign all the Eagle awards. I would imagine it mainly has to do with all the citizenship stuff you have to do.
