will swords be used in the future?

Well swords are a rarity, only elites carry powerswords in addition to their weapons(space marines, which are encapsulated in power armor strong enough to resist pretty much most of the small arms found in said universe) and fleet officers which have mostly for ceremonial use.
Or the occasional madman and priest and such.

Well if you have a fictional universe I suppose you can have any weapon you like, but never confuse it with reality.
Mind you..the odd mad man in reality has been known to use a sword.....but he tends to be either pepperspayed or shot

Why carry a sword when you could use the mass and volume it would take up for other things, like a sidearm or more ammo or more grenades?

Why would you want to use a sword when you have things like a bow? If your objective it to not damage the ship, I am sure we can find much more effective weapons with today's technology than going to back to primitive tech.

And why would you want to use a bow when you can use low-penetration non-lethal weapons, such as glueguns or beanbag rounds or low-penetration pistol rounds?

Several nations developed bayonets for handguns and sub machine guns with such ideas in mind. In reaility they never got used since quickly reloading works far better.

Carrying something so large as a sword in combat is a piss poor idea. If you're facing a massed charge with insufficient firepower to stop it, not very likely to happen, you can just fix a far smaller bayonet on your rifle and then throw a grenade.
