Well something is heating the brain when someone uses a mobile for any length of time, I'm inclined to think it's the relatively powerful microwave transmitter being held an inch from the brain.

I doubt it Valdemar. The power output of cellphones is negligable. Your brain heats up more because you stand in the sun then it does because of microwaves.

Now, you wanna corellate standing outside for better signal reception with brain heating from the sun and thats good, but the microwaves coming from a cellphone are not terribly strong. I can wrap my cell phone in tinfoil and the signal is DEAD.

It's not the heating, it's the way it heats. The microwaves penetrate into the blood-brain barrier easier than other radiation and as microwaves tend to heat Hydrogen more than anything else, they will disrupt the protein structures in the brain. It may not be a huge heat change, but if you screw with the enzymes in your brain then you're in problems.

A human may be able to tolerate extreme heat outside, but if the inside is heated above 37 degrees to say, over 40, then the enzymes in your body denature and become the most complicated and pointless molecules in the universe and not ones that make you live. It is my belief that the concern over such microwave heating is over the way it is heated, not the actual heat itself.

I'll try and find more on it but I'm currently in the middle of a cardiovascular/neuron essay so I'm a little preoccupied. Note, these effects are mainly in younger people, kids who still have developing brains and skulls that are far more permeable to microwaves than adults, but prolonged exposure to any type of radiation for a long time is bad (I'm talking about staying on mobile phone for hours chatting, no idea why anyone would).

Well hey, may as well, who knows, the gov't has loads of mind reading rays of evil floating around out there. ;)

I did a bit of checking, seems it can and cannot cause harm. Depends on usage, DNA is also prone to be affected after prolonged use on older mobiles, but I think EM shields have been implemented now in modern models. Besides, it's still the kids that are most likely to suffer as they have thinner skulls.
