Mouse evolution - Anti-creationist ammo

Post by Arrow »

I just found this at SCIAM.com: http://www.scientificamerican.com/artic ... 9EC588EF21

It's a brief article on some rather fast evolution found in Chicago's mice. Basically, the genetic code of the white-footed mouse has undergone some major changes in the past 150 years, most of it due to human activities.

It's a quick read and I figured it may be another nail for everyone here to use in your debates.

So, it's kind of like the peppered moths of Industrial-era England? Another example of observed adaption, I guess.

But only the phenotypic ratios changed! That's not evolution!</Fundie>

Would've been nice if they included more information besides it just having a rapidly changing genome...

Creationists still attempt to gloss over the peppered moths with all sorts of babble.

I could bring up the same about autotrophic rotifers becoming heterotrophic in under 80 years in the 19th Century, but the Fundies would roll a +6 Wall of Ignorance Attack and that would be that.

Do you not believe in Thor, the Viking Thunder God? If not, then do you consider your state of disbelief in Thor to be a religion? Are you an AThorist?-Darth Wong on Atheism as a religion

There's a fundie or two like that on the aclu forums. Go over and give them a going over.
