Question about Space.

This has been bugging me recently. If a human is shot out of an air lock will they really be dead? Reason I'm questioning this is if they were to freeze first they've effectively been put into cryo-stasis. If however they asphyxiate first they are frozen meat. Then there is always the danger of rapid decompression making them explode. So if someone is shot out of an airlock and isn’t in a Space suit what is their actual status? Can they be recovered and unfrozen? Are they dead? Are they intact?

The hypoxia issue was covered previousily. As to freezing, no you wouldn't. Space has no atmosphere, therefore no temperature. In a vacuum, heat can only leave your body via radiation, and that takes a while. You'll die from lack of oxygen before you get cold.

It should also be mentioned that, for the time being, cryo-stasis is just a pipe dream. The water in your cells would expand and rupture when flash-frozen as is required for cryo-stasis (otherwise, you would go into hypothermia and die). Additionally, the low pressure in space would cause other problems. Ever had a hickey? Well, imagine a full-body hickey, and that's sort of what being spaced is like, up to thirty seconds or so. That's if you're smart enough to NOT hold your breath. Otherwise, it's like a full body hickey while the three dollar lobotomized hooker who gave you the hickey hooks up a tank of compressed nitrogen to your lungs and opens the valve all the way because you said you wanted a blow job. Meanwhile, you're still deciding which is more painful, the feeling of lungs about to burst or your balls being sucked on so hard as to actually draw blood. I think it has also been scientifically stated that even if we manage to freeze a human body intact, freezing the brain actually damages it, not preserves it.
