Eh, WTF? Idiot?

Post by Dooey Jo »

I really should stop debating, or buy me some protective goggles; the stupidity of other people is killing my braincells.

Oh anyway this new guy that I've found is really... weird.
He says that the scientific method is wrong and bad because scientist don't use their emotions and intuition when they work. I tell him that it's because emotions and intuition are subjective. Scientists wouldn't use them because they want to objective. Then he says that the only way of getting real objective knowledge would be by only using intuition and emotion. :wtf:

He also don't think that something can be random, because that would interfere with the way he think the world works, or something. I tell him that some things really are random, like nuclear decay. He says that we just don't yet understand the underlying principle and therefor we just think that it's random.  :wtf:

His next "point" was on logic. He claims that logic is relative to the curvature of space, and in order to achieve true knowledge we must abandon the logic and use "reversed logic" instead. If we do so, we would realize that a circle is really a square and vice versa and nothing is something and (this is how he thinks the universe was formed. more on that later on) 1 = 0 = -1. :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf: :wtf:
He couldn't give any proof for his ideas because they would be "to complex" to write down, that you "have see it for yourself" to understand. His latest excuse for not giving any proof was that science can't be used to disprove science  . And that's the way "science fundamentalists" wants it.

Okay, here's how he thinks the universe was created:
In the beginning there were nothing. From that nothing came two forces; a negative (-1) and positive (+1). (This was possible through the simple equation (-1) + (+1) = 0, and this would supposedly prove that something can from nothing. Just take out the (+1) and you have something  ) Those two opposite forces was drawn to each other because of the law of opposites attraction and when they met there was a Big Bang which formed the universe. It also formed time because, rather then being a forth dimension which is directly connected to space, time is just a side-effect of the curvature of space, just like logic. :wtf:

He claims that we would understand that he is right if we explore the "timeless" dimension. I told him that it is impossible to explore something "timeless" because of several reasons. He didn't respond to that point however.

God also had something to do with all this, but I can't remember what. Probably nothing important. But we could speak with him trough the timeless dimension.

The guy suggested that I should read some of the teachings of Tao, so he obviously was a taoist. I was under the impression that taoists was intelligent people, but it seems like I was wrong. Is this really what taoists believe in? Do they believe that science is a religion with it's own fundies and that logic is relative to the curvature of space? WTFF if they do. And this is supposed to have influenced Star Wars? :?

The Unofficially Official Treatment(TM) of this kind of thing is simple: Watch hot naked lesbian (or gay, if you swing that way) porn. If nothing else, it should slow the stupid from spreading.

Seriously, the guy's just on some kind of a pseudo-scientific and/or philosophical trip. If you're going to debate against those types, then you should by goggles, preferably the types that play hot lesbian porn in 3D.

We;;, considering his ideas are "Too complex" to write down, and he sounds like a complete maniac, he probably is just that. He needs to be told that wanking over abstract ideas in order to sound impressive doesn't help anyone.

When the guys against science say something like this, it's like if I'm happy, I'd get my protein expressed in my BL21.

Unfortunately, I don't, so what should I do? Be frustrated and repeat the experiment again? And when it fails should I cry and repeat?

It's about time the goggles start doing something! Where do they sell 'em? :D

I'll tell him. Doubt he'll listen though; he rarely does.

Whoa. That guy is thinking too much. Of course, it doesn't help that he's an idiot in the first place.

Of course, thinking is a relative term. For the nutter that this thread is about, it's like multiplying any number by zero.

In a word, no.
From what I've seen, Taoism is one of the few science-friendly religions out there. Or would that be ONLY science friendly religion out there?
This guy's an idiot who thinks he's made some great realisation, when if he actually was comprehending what he's reading, he wouldn't be making such an ass of himself.
I mean, "curvature of space"? What The Fuck, BIG-TIME!!! :x
