Just to stay on the topic of homo and lesbo being offensive terms, these things are sometimes language dependent on top of everything else. In English, these forms are seen as derogatory. In Finnish, homo and lesbo are the accepted, correct terms to describe homosexual men and women. The word homosexual is never used, in speech anyway, because it sounds like the person using it in speech is amal retenmtive or something.
So sometimes some people might use these words and not know they're being offensive, because in their native language it is the proper form to use. So, for future reference, keep this in mind. At least if somebody from Finland uses them. I won't, but then again, I know better and I don't usually like mixing languages in any case. It'd not sound correct in my mind, regardless of offensiveness or lack thereof.
