What do you think about Nietzsche's philosophy ? Of the idea of "The Will to power", and of the belief that the upholding of the Ubermensch will come into play.
To begin with, Nietzsche believe in the WIll to Power, the overcoming of one' passions and emotions, to strive himself to become better. Now, thi was without religion: thi was through pure willpower.
Also, the Ubermensch were ideally: supermen. Men, who excelled in mind, body and creativity, and represented the nexus of Human development. To be more prrecise: they were Homo SUperior.
Now, many moralists, ethicists and religious people will claim that it's impossible: no one's perfect.
Aaah, but what is perfection ?
Despite my religion, a small part of me tells me that it is possible that all of us will become the Nietsczhean ideal, and that such an ideal will be upheld all over the world. But then again, that won't dissuade those supposedly moral people who still believe in a supposed imperfection.
Interestingly, a catholic brother told me that Nietzschean ideals were perfect if "no one has anything else to turn to."
I must also add that most people who are deemed 'evil" are real Nietzscheans, as they make their own rules.
It's quite hard to explain, but, I'm riveted by it.

This i an interesting question, and one that is difficult to answer. While such ideas have an appeal, they are still irrational. They lack a focus and generally cause much friction. In answer I say; Paralysis makes you stronger?

No one can judge perfction impartially, therefore as an etical idea, it cannot ever be obtained.

Well, in truth: this requires perception.NecronLord wrote:This i an interesting question, and one that is difficult to answer. While such ideas have an appeal, they are still irrational. They lack a focus and generally cause much friction. In answer I say; Paralysis makes you stronger?
Let's take it this way: paralysis KILLS movement. But, it does NOT kill brain activity. Sure, many paralysed people lose meaning in Life, and many aare prone to suicide, but there also those that learn to cope with their paralysis, and take their talents elsewhere. There have been men, whoe, paralysed from the waist below, posses incredibly strong arms. A man I know, paralysed from the neck down, can actually type, using a stick attached to his forehead, and is a very good writer.
Even Bruce Lee, who couldn't walk for some time, gained the will to overcome this, and, voila ! He started to walk again.
It's all a questiojn of willpower It's one thing to be afflicted with something, it's another to overcome it, and that was part of Nietszche's thesis..
So.... yes, Paralysis can kill you in a sense, but it can also strengthen you.
Philosophy eh ? It's a funny old subject.

humm, but that which does not kill you does not always make you more powerful, therefore there is a flaw in Nietzsche's reasoning...

God is Dead, and so is Zarathustra.
Zoroastrianism died with the Babylonians. The Stoics are where its at.
As for Neitzsche and his belief in the Ubermensch, it is a very western belief that anyone or anything can be an 'ideal' or 'superior' being, which all stems from Plato and his beliefs that the world we see is just a reflection of the ideal world which seems to be floating out in the aether somewhere. If you believe that Plato was correct in thinking that there CAN be an ideally perfect world, and that Philosophers should be Kings, and Kings, Philosophers, then you're obviously not living in the same world I am ('Philosopher Kings' can be said to have given their blessing to some of the greatest atrocities ever visited upon mankind in the form of Catholic Popes). This 'Will to Power' is just mystical nonsense that Neitzsche threw into his babbling book to confuse the masses.
Thus endeth my rant, let me put on my flame retardant suit real quick.

I don't believe anyone can ever become Perfect, but I do believe that people can reach their full physical and mental potential if they have the will to better themselves as much as they possibly can. I think it's the epic aspiration to perfection that gives the whole issue it's controversial nature. The fact that someone won't be happy until they're at the top, undisputedly ruling all they see. It's like king of the mountain.
