I really think the Yee-Haw bunch live everywhere. There are rednecks in every state of the union, like Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel, who lives in Springfield, Illinois.
There are other towns named Springfield, and they have never said that Springfield was in Illinois in the Simpsons. In fact, they usually go out of their way to conceal it.
Although we can rule out most southern states, as they actually have snow in Winter.

If one would use genetics to indicate some kind of superiority/inferiority, then Africans could argueably be better than everyone else...since they're the oldest human race, they've been here longer...more diversity...possibly more robust. But then, that's if you adopt this quasi-racism. (Or would it be full-blown racism?)

As for the location of Springfield, one could reasonably say it's in Illionois. After all, we do know it's been said to be in the heartland of America, and Lisa said that you could guess it if you "follow the hints."

Not much in the way of seacoast in Illinois, though. And Kentucky is obviously from an alternate universe Simpsons....

Right, forgot about the nearby coastal area. Also, they live in a state where gambling is legalized. New Jersey? Not "the heartland of America." Nevada? There IS a "Springfield Desert," and "Chasm/Gorge" as well.
