So let me get this straight: you people are worried that if comedians and other celebrities stop encouraging the use of the N-word, then this will somehow "slippery slope" into censorship? Are you serious?

Yup. Tom Leykis had Paul Mooney and the guy that runs the Laugh Factory on his show Tuesday, and that very subject came up. Of all people, John Lovitz called in and got into an argument with Mooney wondering why "kike" and other racial slurs wouldn't be banned.

BTW, the Laugh Factory will be fining any comic that uses the "N" word now.

...Anyway, I think trying to tighten up restrictions on "nigger" is probably going to encourage it further. It's already something of a sacred cow and this seems to be a lot of the reason behind its use. What would improve the situation would be pushing the fact that becoming smart and successful isn't "acting white." They should also push for total race-blind policies. Again this is only a start, there's too much groupthink around to fix the problem overnight but it is doable.
