Even if it did, who gives a fuck? I think that people looking for Koranic reasons to criticize this behaviour are missing the point, which is that religious freedom has limits. You can't cite "religious freedom" as an excuse to harm other people, any more than the Southern slavocrats in 1850 had the right to cite the Bible to defend slavery.

Of course and I agree that these muslims are assholes. I just want to know what the religion itself says on the matter. This sound to me more like a bunch of morons "extrapolating" a particular verse(s) of scripture much like the JWs do with blood transfusions.

As I said earlier - the Koran comes down against ornamental-type pet dogs. It has nothing bad to say about working dogs, which in Mohammed's time would most likely have been hunting, guarding, or herding dogs. These days, Middle Eastern immans are usually positve towards those as well as mine-finding dogs. Seeing-eye dogs, as working dogs, should be entirely OK except to the ignorant dumbfucks who can't be bothered to understand their own religion.
A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. Leonard Nimoy.

Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.- Malcolm Reynolds, Captain of Serenity, which sums up my feelings regarding the lawsuit discussed here.

Especially given that the prophet was actually quite fond of both cats and dogs. (or at least the working/hunting/guard types)

Even the original stuff seems like just another unjustifiable rule against anything that brings joy to life. What was it with these ancient dickheads that they thought life needed to be even MORE unpleasant that it already was?

If they are so disturbed by the idea of being near a dog that they cannot even have one in their back seat, then they should have realized when they decided to become a taxi driver that they would probably have to have a dog in their car at some point and gotten a different job.

Anyone disturbed by anything in the back seat shouldn't become a cab driver. Period.
