If I remember correctly the Japanese film crew that captured the footage of Archyteuthis (a different species of giant squid apparently) tried cooking a bit of the severed tentacle but found it inedible due to high concentration of ammonia.

But like I said last time we humans have managed to make sharks and rays edible. Just do the same treatment to giant-squid-flesh. Over here the traditional solution is to soak ammonia-rich meat in tamarind juice for a while and then wash and soak it again in water. Actually I believe soaking it in any weak acid like lemon or lime juice will do.
