What black and white fallacy? When someone says that you need to "get in touch with your feminine side", that's not the same thing as saying that you need to cut off your masculine side with a rusty cleaver.Knife wrote:I believe the phrase means to a certain extent to basically calm down from the macho side of things. (DW probably said it better).
The overall problem stems from the idea that, if being to manly is wrong, being more femine is ok. That's where I'd have a problem. Quite beating your chest, but the solution isn't grabbing your breasts either. Black and white fallacy anyone?

The righteous indignation at sexism is annoying. I don't see anything wrong with "get in touch with feminine side", because it's all about context. I've only ever heard this directed at people who are too macho.
It's almost as if people are afraid if they accept sensitivity or compassion, it'll damage their manhood. It's as if most men don't want to admit that women are better than them at something.

If you mean 'sensitivity and compassion' say that.brianeyci wrote:It's almost as if people are afraid if they accept sensitivity or compassion, it'll damage their manhood.
No, men are reluctant to admit that things women tend to be better at are important. You never hear women saying 'I need to get in touch with my masculine side'; the PC idiots who spout like this are still arguing over whether a) men aren't actually better at anything, other than maybe brute force or b) all the things men are better at are evil and wrong (like war) and should be abandoned. It's as if most men don't want to admit that women are better than them at something.
