I would say Cro-Magnons, the first "modern" humans in Europe, would've likely been physically similar to Australian Aborigines, but less dark skinned, and they then gradually got absorbed by the more recent African and Asian groups coming in from opposite directions.

They've done the genetic research a long time ago to determine that white people are basically mongrels: mixes of genetic material from other races. It stands to reason that they would be one of the more recent strains if they contain genetic material from other races.

This does, however, contain the interesting revelation that white people have always had a bad diet.

There are very interesting studies centred around ricketts too, I recall from long ago.

I'm not sure about that. Aboriginals are most closely related to melanesians but are quite different nevertheless. Lighter for example. European breeds such as Cro-Magnons were more heavy and solid. I may be wrong but polynesians are more alike in body mass/build to Cro-Magnons.

I'd be interested in knowing how this relates to the Ainu of Japan - who are not related to the caucasians, but who are relatively white. Also the very northern tribal peoples who never became farmers, but remained hunter gatherers. I.e. laplanders, finns, possibly even the inuit, but whose skin tone is close to or effectively caucasian. There seems to be a bit of an inconsistency here.

What, lighter skin couldn't evolve more than once? I'd think that if there was a survival advantage it would certainly show up frequently among people at high latitudes. (Which makes the dark skin of the original Tasmanians a little puzzling, but perhaps there was something else in their environment that made that adaption unnecessary)
