The Miracle of life was done using a small camera (of the sort used for filming the insides of hearts, and intestines) implanted in the woman by her fertility doctor for the purposes of making the damn film....
actually they used several, the first one was sort of an IUD which was how they got the ejaculation shot, the second was actually not in utero but under the gell of a microscope showing sperm latching onto an egg in a petrie dish. Finally the child development shots were done through another use of the sergical camera implanted in the vagina, with the lense looking in through the cervix...
Strangely I got to see the Life magazine "Making of the Miricle of Life" film when I was in the AV labs in High School.
