When I saw an interview on CNN with an "expert" on terrorism, he kept saying that the guy was doing the bombings for political reasons.

Yeah, I'm sure what he was really going for were those damned Republican sodomites and baby-killers.

Is this another example of the media treating religion with kid gloves?
Maybe he's just an idiot.

You mean my "Eric Robert Rudolph - Hide and Seek Champion 1995-Present"
tee shirt is no longer in date?

Seriously, he was a big subject on gunboards, with most of them thinking
that Rudolf was long dead in some crevice or something, so that when
I saw him on the news i was like: "Goddamn, he's still alive?"

I'd be willing to bet a large sum of money that he survived becaused he received help from some locals. They may not have lodged him, but what's a can of tuna here and there among 'God's Soldiers'?

EDIT: Why would the gun boards care? He was a bomber, not a shooter.

Guy hides from the largest manhunt in american history and outfoxes
the Fuds for five years, you gotta count on him becoming a semi-cult
figure simply for being able to stay one step ahead...

Am I not correct in assuming that most of the "the UN is taking over, let's go into the woods and train for the eventual showdown with the ATF agents" groups are obsessed with obtaining guns?

So are the "The evil Bushsttapo is taking over the US and corporations are
taking over!" whackoes.

What the fuck are you expected to use if you're a radical leftist or rightist?

Harsh language?

So you're conceding that WP was correct in saying that right-wing anti-government loonies are always gun nuts.

Bet? The locals bragged about helping the guy out.

If this guy can elude federal capture from the feds so long, it makes you wonder about all the other people who are hiding out. As for him being a cult figure among gun nuts, it might have something to do with him hiding out from the "feds who take guns away" for 7 years.

Actually, Rudolph was a semi cult figure out on www.ar15.com, which
is a popular gunboard. Some of the debates there are really heated,
ranging from religion, where there are debators that would rank up
there with Wong/Durandal for their views, to pro NRA, anti NRA people,
to cops to virulent anti government types....

Oh yes, and pro israel anti israel debates flare up on there occasionally.

So don't go around wicked pilot and mike, painting "gunboards" as
hives of singular right wing group think...you'd be surprised at the
virulent differences between the members on them - the only unifying
thing between them all is that they like the AR-15 style rifles

And yes, part of Rudolph's cult figure status is because the guy
managed to elude the largest government manhunt ever done
to that point, and eluded helicopters, dogs, etc etc, and FLIR
equipped cops...for almost five years..

If there's one thing other than AR-15s that most of AR15.com
likes, it's schadenfreude at seeing the Feds fall flat on their asses for
five years, and it finally comes down to a local cop to make
the bust.

EDIT: And I recall reading articles a few years ago about how the
Feds moved in and basically took total and complete command of
the operation to find Rudolph, and essentially told the local cops
to fuck off and follow their orders.

Lefties seem to usually not use guns. The like to start riots and loot places like Starbucks. The also seem to enjoy setting fire to genetic engineering labs and placing metal spikes into trees slated to be cut down. Nasty little fuckers they can be.

IIRC a Turkish newsman died from a heart attack during the Atlanta Olympic bombing.

Why not extradite Rudolph to Turkey? Turkey's prisons having such a nice reputation and all. I'm sure the other prisoners would love to have a fundamentalist Christian American wacko hanging out with them.

I'm sure American prison would be enough. Sure, he could have been able to evade government forces for 5 years, but will he be able to evade Bubba?
