Actually, I never read Playboy. Ever since they became a vanity outlet for female celebrities going through mid-life crisis, I would rather stay away.

Playboy articles

Much like folks who claim to read Playboy just for the articles
There can occasionally be good articles in there ... honest!
Indeed, at least two great thinkers would agree (Issac Asimov and Arthur C. Clark). In Asimov's essay "The Olympian Snows" ("The Planet That Wasn't", Avon Books, 1976) he exclaims in the introduction: "I'm probably the only person in history who gasped and choked and jumped up and down while staring at a page in Playboy that had no trace of womankind upon it.". He said this in reference to an article in the magazine entitled "The Snows of Olympus" by Arthur C. Clark. You see, Clark had "stolen" his article title.

Just a random comment, pay no attention.

And why gay marriage is legal... Among other things, oh and why their educational system is better than ours... Hell the exchange students I have met... My friend Nils speaks English better than I do, and speaks latin and soe spanish, as well as I think french...
That's a bit unfair. Exchange students tend to be among the cream of the crop, so you can't really make that broad of a generalization based on them.

All I can say is thank heavens our universities still kick ass.

The horoscopes would be much more amusing if they actually made specific predictions.

For example, instead of some vague bullshit like "seize opportunity when it beckons", it could say "you will get diarrhea tonight".

Leo

"Your day will start with some fortune, you will have just enough milk for your cornflakes, though from there on, Mars says it will be a bad day. Highlights are when you're wife/girlfriend/mother or any known female companion takes out a tantrum on you and kicks you out of the building. Be sure to be wearing pants. Avoid the 1847 bus into town, there's a madman on the loose who gets on it and plans on shooting all who pass by.

Don't even think about going to McDonalds for tea, a piece of male genitalia will be guaranteed to be mysteriously found in your aptly named Happy Meal."

Yes, I love horoscopes.

They'd be even funnier that way if they were made by LSD addicts.

"You will be hunted my giant insects!"
"Hi there, would you like to have a cookie?"

"No, actually I would HATE to have a cookie, you vapid waste of inedible flesh!"

An interesting thing i learned from the German student that came to our school was that germany doesn't have good history programs. Whereas in america we will spend a month on World War 2, talking about the different conferraces, players, major battles, and the like, German history classes tend to just barely mention that a couple million people died between '39 and '45.

Yeah, I think it is kind of a guilt thing... Understandably so, that was a very bad period in their history.

The school in Hamburg where my German teacher taught didnt have an intercom system because it was to authoritarian

The ones I know however, do know their hisstory, and current events very well... They know very well what happened in their country 60 years ago, and being called a nazi is the WORST thing you could call someone in germany.

Yah, it didn't help that we where on a tour bus discussing politics of appeasment and the girl behind us asked if Germany was in WWII.

But on topic, as a whole, I think religion is becoming more stratified. Extremests on one side and moderates on the other, with few real conservitives left in the middle.

No, we was in America, land of the (intellegence) free, and home of the Brave (enough to say ridiculously stupid things.)
Not one of this countries, or all of womankind in general's, finer moments.

The number of people affiliated with a religion my indeed be rising, but the percentage of the congregation who don't give a fuck about anything except for going to church once a week is also rising.

Okay, so we have extreme fundies getting dumber. (Yeah, like this is gonna change.)
We have average Joe Christian getting lazier.

So eventually, fundies will become so stupid that they turn into monkeys, and all the apathetic "theoretical religous" become indistinguisable from the rest of us.

Kind of like a twisted heat-death of the universe similarity if you think about it.
