Mmmmh....now when heather graham is on "Screen" (And I use that term loosely in this case) I can just walk around behind it and check out her ass for the WHOLE movie!

Whoa...here's a thought....movies are going to get infinitely more complicated if that thing goes big time....no more 2-d flat sets and shit...and some HEAVY duty CG-over bluescreen work to complete the 3-d illusion.....what a nightmare..

Easy use two motion control cameras linked togathe like the ones they used to make a normal actor appear hobbit sized next to a normal sized person. but I don't think Hollywood is ready for that as it would require the entire refitting of every theater in the world in order to play this new true 3D movie. They would not do it for only home users unfortunatally.

It's been hard just to get a few to start using mere digital projection.

"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

This is bullshit, people. How can you project an image onto air? The projected image must have a medium to be projected ONTO.

With this alleged technology, these people could easily make a non-lethal lightsaber. I'm not convinced, sorry.

For this to work your car would need about as much smoke in it as Cheech and Chong's Impala!

BTW, if you check the source code on that website, it has "Princess Leia" as one of the keywords! :P

Hm, i'm with Poe, this is bound to be bullshit. On one of the pages there are links to reports of it on yahoo and nytimes and stuff...anyone try them?

No i didn't try them...for whatever reason.

Congrats, Rye, now you look foolish for not checking the damn links before making an accusation...

EDIT: I checked them, and except for the NYT (which requires a subscription), they all work and are legitamate reports.

Another thing...

Why would they go to all that effort to fake pictures, videos, and press releases and reports? I don't know how many of you saw the videos before they had to take them down due to traffic, but I did and frankly, they were quite amazing. I think it would be extremely difficult if not almost impossible to fake what was depicted.

The still pictures they have just don't do justice to how they actually look (at least how they look on home video).

The possibility exists, yes. On the other hand, there have been a lot of reports on workable free-floating holographic technology that was abandoned because of cost issues and the difficulty of using a controlled / confined medium. And their webpage does state that it expels heated air in order to make the projections work... stop laughing at my choice of words, people. Anyway, I'm not saying it has to be legit. But I don't believe you need to break any physical laws in order to have a free-floating holo, just as I don't believe magnetically levitated objects to be unrealistic. Sorry.
With this alleged technology, these people could easily make a non-lethal lightsaber. I'm not convinced, sorry.
I'm curious here, Wayne. Does the possibility of someone making a faux lightsaber automatically discredit the technology?

Wonder what we will do with the tech. I am guessing it would be too expensive for home users for a while yet, and would mostly be seen in displays and such for a while.

I'm actually kind of suprised that they're centering so much on the interactive aspects, considering the mere fact that they can even project something like that is more amazing.

(Once the quality of the images gets better...)

INTERIOR DECORATING!!! Think about it! You could have the mona lisa hanging on your wall!!!
Or like, some kind of weird plant you drew yourself, with real growth patterns and flowering and stuff! WOW! This is going to be AWESOME if it's real and it gets mass produced!!!
