The Y chromosome is growing smaller and smaller and inevitably will poof from existance, which makes me wonder how the human race will continue. But enough of that, just use mass media to continue to promote blonde popularity. Then a lot of people will rush out and buy hair dyes to be blonde. If you want to help keep some of the blondes stereotypical (stupid) then add toxins to certian brands of hair bleach to make them stupid... did anyone catch the sarcasim of that? If natural blondes were meant to die out then they were meant to die out.

Saying that blondes will go out of existance is based on the same fallacy as saying that short people will go out of existance.

Personally my hair is red and that's even more recessive than blond.
My mother had blond hair and my father had darkbrown/black hair.
According to genetic statistics my traits shouldn't have appeared but yet here I am.

Interesting trivia:
In 95' a black couple in bronx got a white child. Since neither had white parents the husband accused the wife of cheating, but DNA testing showed that it was their child. The explanation was genetically simple, they both came from african-american slave families. Down the line their grandgrand*X*mothers had been raped by whites. Since the recessive white gene appeared in both their genes the chance was, to say the least, slim. But still it happened.

It is not uncommon to see redhaired persons in southern spain. Black hair being dominant and both parents having black hair doesn't remove the chance since the recessive gene is very much still in the pool.

I seem to remember the existance of some hardcore man hating feminists claim that sort of thing, however as the Y chromosome is passed down identically from father to son then theoretically that could happen by random mutation (the fact that your talking millions of years and not mellenia here, and it assumes that each man will only have one son at most, it doesn't work that way is clearly lost on them)

Sigh this is fairly simple. Take all the copies of "hair colour" alleles in a population and divide by the total. Let's say you have:
blond - b being the relative frequency.
not blond - B being the relative frequency.
Now we know:
b+B = 1

and then obviously:
(b+B)^2 = 1

bb+2Bb+BB =1

Now the above relates the genotypic frequency. 1:2:1 (homozygous recessive, heterozygous, homozygous dominant).

In other words if mating is completely random (and all the other Hardy-Weinberg assumptions are met) then blonds will always be present. Whatever the allele frequency for the blond allele is ... the relative frequency of blonds will be that squared.

As far as genetic drift, hell even natural selection eliminating blonds in 200 years ... forget it. Let's say we went out and shot every Blond person for the next 200 years ... if that practice was stopped after 200 hundred years it would take just about 9 months for new blonds to enter the world. Eliminating recessives is the DAMN hardest thing to do in population genetics. Even if every blond was killed since the Pyramids were built ... they'd still exist in the population (this is also why anyone advocating eugenics is a moron ... we, our children, our grandchildren, and our great grandchildren will all be dead before anything susbstantial comes from it). Dominates, on the other hand, can be axed in one generation.

Selection is based off of current phenotypes. Future phenotypes are based on the genotypes of the mating population.

As far as the Y chromosomes ... whatever. The average human male can keep a multitude of females pregnant. If shrinking Y-chromosomes are an issue (to the point of sterility) then the rare genetic freaks with abnormally long Y's would have more fertile male offspring which will relatively quickly lengthen the average Y chromosome length.
