Furries weird me out more than I really understand. I think it's just... well. I've always watched Loony Toons as a kid, or cartoons with anthropomorphic animals... but you know, the fact that people can derive such... odd reactions from what I see (still) as cute and a reminder of good childhood times (or a reminder to buy war bonds, to defeat Hitler)...

That's just unnerving. Also, the fursuit people represent the very worst parts of bad cosplay combined with bad roleplay. I met some at San Diego Comicon last year, and they were some of the creepiest human beings I've met, even though I spoke to them for probably less than two minutes.

I know some good people though, who are into that. That's fine. They're not exactly paragons of normalcy though. :P

Humans are weird things, they can get turned on by anything, I mean Predator, wtflol! We can't do anything about it, and people will just not "get it" and get creeped out by it, or they'll secretly like it and lie to themselves and others about how much they hate it. Like with hardcore christians and gays.

Personally, my limits are around Felicia from Darkstalkers, mostly human-looking.

I know a guy who's a furry, and for some reason he found it unnerving when for the setting of a roleplaying game, male priestesses of female deities would turn into the opposite gender by the time they reached 20th level (basically becoming more like their god). In his words, it was "too fetishey". Naturally, our response to this was, "But you're a furry!"

The way I see it, it's not so much what society perceives as having a certain level of fetishness associated with it as it is people's individual cups of tea.

Some of the guys in my English 102 class in college went to a furry convention in Memphis once. Took a video camera and went all Crocodile Hunter on them. :D That was some priceless footage, all the way from the beginning to them getting thrown out.

It was at furry conventions that I embraced the term "FIJASOI".

Fandom Is Just A Source Of Income.

It was odd being one of maybe a half-dozen people there in a shirt and tie, calmly selling my books and T-shirts. Of course, everyong hounds a artiost at first until word gets around that I don't do "that sort" of art, then only the actual readers bother to apply.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

Those are some very nice, curvy limits. I don't think that there's anyone around capable of appreciating the female form who doesn't think Felicia is hot-looking, furry or not.

This is on the weirder edge of the things I enjoy, I think (G-rated picture)...at least in terms of body shape. For some reason multiple arms are a fairly rare flavor, in my experience.

Honestly, I don't know how anyone can look at the human form in terms of functionality and NOT come to the conclusion that it could do with some major overhauling. Extra arms or a prehensile tail should be the most basic thing to add on - I can't count the number of times I wished I had just a little bit more carrying capacity. Two arms just aren't enough.

Felicia is a pseudo-catgirl/furry one though. She is more cat than a normal catgirl, but less than a pure furry. I'm not that much of a fan of that, since the ears and tail and maybe whiskers thing is easily emulated by real AV models in Japan, or even bunny girls at a certain mansion.

When it looks more like you need a suit, then it's crossed the boundaries for me.

Suits just plain creep me out. Something about those big dead eyes...

I've long wished that our simian ancestors had developed prehensile tails, and kept them through their later evolution. Humans would just look better with them (not to mention the added functionality).

I'm really flexible as far as sexual attraction goes, but the head and face still have to be recognizably human for me. Fur, feathers, scales whatever; the important thing is that the skull structure is one that I can empathize with. I really can't crack one off to people with horse/cat/dog etc. heads. I generally draw a distinction between anthros (humans with animal characteristics) and furries (animals with human characteristics). The former I really like, the latter does nothing for me. If that makes me a furry then meh.

I think this describes me rather well as well as perhaps some others... For me it's the aspects of an anthro rather then the animal itself... Tails, fur, feathers, scales, etc, that can all be fun independently.

Once you get to the point where you are putting fully animal heads on humanoid creatures, then things tend to get a bit odd.

You know, that bothers me much less than most furry art I've seen. It's kind of a nice drawing. The whole "furry" thing isn't so gross in theory, but so much of the art has these over-proportioned bodies that I just find nauseating.

Had only a vague sense of what "furries" before, now from scanning these posts I know far more than I care to. :D

I'm only attracted to adult human females. I don't care if anyone else likes all of this furry stuff, to each his or her own. But unless it's a drawing, phototgraph or some other portrayal of an actual adult human female, without the cat ears, or tails, fur suits, or all of this other stuff, no thanks. Once a character starts featuring non-human characteristics, I completely lose interest.

And I've never understood the appeal of or attraction to cross-breeding humans and other sentient humanoid alien species ("She's half human, half Klingon, but all woman!"). But that's a topic for another discussion.

And you're all nuts.
