Yes, that *is* exactly where I got them. With the ultimate point being:

If life starts around one out of a million, and intelligent life is a one in a million event youd still have millions of civilisations in the universe.
Without making an "appeal to popularity", from what hole did you pull these numbers from?

- 1 in a million can be popularly agreed on
- 1 in a million yields X number of intelligent species
- Aliens exist

You haven't shown aliens should exist, only that belief in them is popular. Change "million" to "trillion", and start multiplying the possibilities.

As far as humanity knows, life is guaranteed to spring up around sunlike stars.
That is not true. We don't know this. What we know for certain is that there exists the possibility of life around sunlike stars. We don't know the possibility.

All Dirac's equation shows is that if you multiply 10 guesses together you get one really big guess.

I'm pretty sure that, somewhere out in the galaxy, life exists, whether or not it's complex, sentient, or even recognizable.

DUMP ALIENS:
The Aliens' homeworld is overpopulated. Billions upon billions of beings. Space colonies (like orbital stations and such) are not a viable answer for their problem. Eugenism(sp) could be the solution, but those aliens have feeling too, so there are protestations to that option.

So, they choose to send a portion of their population on another planet, at the other side of the Galaxy. The Alien government put their dumbest people, the weaks, the stupid, the retards, those with defects, in big automated spaceships, and there they go! We don't want you here, we don't want to kill you, go find yourself another planet!!!

About the Hitchhiker's Guide:
No, I didn't read that book, but a (wet) towel is the only weapon you'll need to defeat the aliens from the movie "Signs" (and maybe you could defeat those from "Independence Day" also). :)

Im pretty sure alien life in SOME form exists out there in the Universe, however there hasn't really been any hard evidence of them showing up here yet.

There may be a few "unexplained" UFO cases here and there, but that isn't hard enough evidence to go by.

The sheer vastness of the universe means that life must exist somewhere. Is it visiting us here... no. cattle mutlations, crop circles and abductees as proof? i dont think so. Starborn people.... please, thats just getting silly now. These people shou;d go for something a little more plausible, like being atlantis descendants or prophets of a new messiah, havent had any good ones of those for a while!
...we just have to decide what to do with the time given to us, and do the best we can.....

If there is aliens with advance enough technology to travel in space i think they will wait untill we reach there level of technology before making contact.

what i find ridiculous is when some people get excited when they find a microbe on some rock they claim comes from mars big freaking deal.

It's actually rather understandable. Honestly, the only pond we'll be able to look for life in for a long time will be in our Solar System.

The conclusion is foreseeable: the aliens arrive on Earth, run around abducting people

first dumb alien:"Hey, that guy in the corn field must be the leader of that planet!"
second dumb alien:"We will interrogate him?"
fda:"Yes, take the mind probe!"
sda:"Where should I put it?"
:P

They only use a small part of there technology to conquer us (they don't know how to operate the rest), we survive the first strike and then we kick their sorry asses!!!

(I apologize if that humoristic view of alien shock you.)

Actively, true. SETI is allowing help from computer users with crunching numbers from Arecibo. Don't remember links off the top of my head...found it! it's at http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/

Have any of you heard of the UFO known as the "fast walker"??

According to a Top Secret document leaked to UFO investigator Joe Stefula there is now scientific probability that Earth is being visited by craft which are under extraterrestrial, intelligent control.

At least that is how the evidence is being interpreted by some.

At 14:00hrs Zulu (GMT) on May 4th, 1984 the North American Air Defense Command detected an object sweeping towards the Earth from outer space.

The object was picked up by an ultra-sensitive US Defense Support satellite designed to detect surface launch of ballistic missiles. These satellites are so sensitive they can detect small heat emissions on the Earth, even minor house fires.

This particular object, codenamed "Fastwalker" by the military was no ballistic missile. Its origins were very much in outer-space. Neither did it behave like a meteorite or piece of space debris.

What astounded observers of the data in the leaked document was its heat signature and behaviour.

Fastwalker was hot, it was fast. It was tracked for nine minutes and flew within 15 miles of the satellite. It approached Earth orbit then, somehow, veered away and swept back towards outer space.

The main points to remember about this data is that: natural objects do not behave in this way; meteorites either bounce off the atmosphere or enter it. That Fastwalker was able to change course is indicative that it possessed energy and was able to direct that energy in order to produce that change of direction.

It is also indicative, perhaps, of intelligent control.

It is said that as many as ten thousand of these objects could approach the Earth each week without being detected - such is the fluke this one was detected at all.

There are reports that this is not the only military detection of such objects. There are also opinions out there that the leaked document is a fraud - but they would say that, wouldn't they?

I live in Texas, let me tell you Aliens are real and they are here! I work with them everyday, the borders down on the Rio Grande are easy to slip through and they come up here looking for work. I am tempted to call INS on them and send them packing.

Since we are composed of cast-off matter from the formation of Stars, aren't we all?

I remember reading online that if there are planets in this galaxy capable of supporting a civilization, they would be in the outer rim of the Milky Way. It takes billions of years for matter to cool and change into iron and solids, the stars closest to the center of the galaxy are mostly made of hydrogen. Or something like that. Makes sense.

Nice pun on the fact that "alien" can mean "foreigner" as well as "extra-terrestrial."
