Or he overheard a group bitchfest. Those happen often. Why are you obsessing about this?metavac wrote:That's a remarkable story. So these kids who basically laughed at you and your friends came to you as a group or one on one after getting their scores back (pretty close to the end of the year, too) and confessed their performance to you guys. That about sum it up?Doctor Why wrote:They all basically told on themselves.

Possibly, though I don't know how probable it is that "a good bit" of his classmates would end up bitching about their scores in earshot of him. A handful of friends shooting the shit after a rough exam? Sure. Maybe one or two mentioning something about a retest after the scores come back. Maybe.sketerpot wrote:Or he overheard a group bitchfest. Those happen often.
Because the story as originally told sounded absurd, and on second telling it still doesn't ring true. Why are you obsessing about this?

Ok, I did embellish a little. But a large group did really not pass, and/or came close to not passing. I found this out because yes a large segment of the students did say so themselves. I found out about the teacher from another teacher. Judging from what he told me, and how she left I am left believing that the poor test scores were a major factor in the decision to let her go.

My Chem. teacher, while a good teacher did do some really bone headed things. Like covering a beaker that had acid with his hand and shaking it, pouring stuff down the drain that came back up at him and burned his face, I heard he cut part of his thumb off his last year. Though he had to have been in his 70's so it may have just been him going senile.

Not mine, they performed lectures aplenty, maybe it was different from the 80's when you went to high school, ::Hell, half of my high-school math teachers literally just read out of the textbook for each lesson. The only reason you needed them at all was to help students when they had questions.
