You mean, like Multiple Personality Disorder, in which the entire psychiatric profession threw Occam's Razor complete out the window for more than 20 years and concluded that multiple personalities were fucking independent, real sentient entities? I guess only a truly disreputable publication would ever support something like that
Really? Interesting that I've never heard it described that way. Could it be that psychologists recognised that there were more plausible explanations? (like the adoption of an act to make dealing with the world easier - an act which becomes so ingrained, and so automatic that it almost seems like a completely different person?)
Wait, I know what that sounds like. . . science! Psychology just reacts much more slowly than the physical sciences, because the testing cycles are much longer, and the results so ambiguous. It is easy to say that a particular psychological study's conclusions are full of shit. It is much harder to say that in a form which is anything other than an opinion based on anecdotal evidence.

And that theory is being discredited. When my sister was taking psychology MPS was no longer generally accepted.
And before you attack the length of time it took for them to come to that conclusion, remember, it takes years to test these theories.
