What is the best role-model for parenting?

Post by Lagmonster »

This isn't for myself; I consider myself well-educated, love my son and have strong humanist values - but I realized that there are a lot of people out there who come from shit families, no families at all, or - most of all - who have a weak moral centre because they got all of their direction from useless authorities like religious dogma, trendy lifestyle fads, or political movements.

Where or to whom would you refer a person who had no positive frame of reference for parenting? Or are some people inescapably bad parents with good intentions?
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.
