Brainwashing techniques

Post by Shrykull »

Anyone know any good ones (not that I'd want to do it) There's hynotisms of course, and a big one is repetition. I remember some Outer Limits episode where they testing how many times someone could be de-brainwashed and re-brainwashed. they tied him to a chair, and had him watch a video all night, saying the same thing "You are Jolum, you serve m'lord." How long would it take of something repetive when you'd actually believe it, I mean we've all had songs in our heads before, but what about if you listened to the same thing, thousands of times.?

Do like the Jehovah's Witnesses do, and train people the way you would train dogs. Guide them through a series of exercises with no real options, and then praise them at the end. Repeat forever.

Combined with protein and sleep depravation that is very effective. But it does require the subject to cooperate, at least in part.

If the subject is gullible or undeucated, the JWs might not need to worry about cooperation.

There is also the "Clockwork Orange" method, can't remember canon name, Kubrick kicks ass.
Brainwashing is forcing a person to accept a certain idea through extreme coersion. It's comprable to torture.

I wonder if it's illegal to brainwash other people. If that's true, the Jehovah's Witnesses could be discredited. :D

Yes... Sounds similar to the methods used in 1984.

I don't remember what method they use in '84, but the method applied in "Clockwork Orange" was where the victem's eyes are clamped open and they are forced to watch looped video of really awful things. They did the same thing in the Simpsons once, they sent Santa's Little Helper to obedience school and at obediece school they forced him to watch video of people kicking dogs, and shoving their noses into toilets. A funny sequence.

A version of good cop bad cop works well, too AFAIK.
Just lock the person into a small cell and don't talk to
him for several weeks. Interrrogate him after that period
and ask him some meaningless question. Introduce the
good cop who tries to befried the victim. Most victims will
do what ever the good cop asks.

I think the Clams ($cientologists for those who didn't get the joke at www.xenu.net) have a good one quite similar to the "JW-Reeducation-with-Sleep-Dep-and-Protein" method.

*puts pictures of evangelists and bigots(falwell, robertson, phelps ect in crib, baby looks at them, electric shock*

*place a picture of Stephen Hawking, or einstien, Mendel, or Darwin in crib, baby looks at them and is rewarded* :D

Scientology?? Isn't that religion made up mainly of expensive, pseudometaphysical "help-yourself" courses?

Pavlovian wouldn't work as well, make it more subtle.
Take an adult and place him or her into a room with people all of whom are having conversations. Whenever he/she looks toward the side of the room with photos of Darwin, or whoever, the conversations are all relaxed and happy. Whenever to the other side, the conversations become heated and angry. This would be enough to click little subtle levers in that persons little ape brain.

The U.S military has some pretty decent methods, they don't work on everyone, but when they do work they tend to stick.
