My interpreter
With all these JW-bashing going on here, I'd like to put in my 2%.
My interpreter at school is a JW, but she doesn't behave like the ones you keep running in. She never tried to convert anyone to her faith. She also pointed out some mistakes that the fundies made when reading the bible (ie. the bible says nothing about a hell). She had a college education, and even assists my math teacher in answering the questions! Honestly, I was a bit surprised when she first admitted that she is a JW.
So, do you think she thinks she is a JW, or is there other kinds of JWs out there, or is she just another individual?

Sorry if this something everyone knows already, but why do you need an interpreter in school?

One of my v good friends at shcool was a JW, and we got on fine. Don't remember any serious religious discussion, but she never pissed me off.

Members of religious groups varry in intensity.
I knew a very lovely girl in HS whose mother was a JW, but I don't know if she was. There was also a young girl (~13) on GundamWatch who was a JW, and she believed that the End Time would occure sometime in her lifetime, but she was also nice and didn't preach or anything.
In HS I knew two girls in my grade who were Mormons, one in particular was an extremely nice person. They'd often answer questions about it, but they didn't advertise their faith.
Basically, while I don't like either of these cults as a whole, I don't have a problem with them on an individual basis (but that really depends on the individual).

Normally, deaf kids go to integrated programs in existing schools or are carted off to the state's school of the deaf. These at integrated programs get state-hired interpreters (which tend to be lousy and overprotective ) But I'm the only deaf guy in a high school full of hearing people, and my parents have plenty of money, so we can afford a private, good interpreter.Sorry if this something everyone knows already, but why do you need an interpreter in school?
Hope this helps.

They're supposed to be anti-alcohol, anti-tobacco, and anti-lunchmeat (because blood has been added). His Divine Shadow wrote:I knew a few JW's, two of them where alcoholics, I'm not sure about the last one, he drank pretty heavily...
Now the weird thing is, aren't they supposed to be anti-alcohol?

Not all Jehovah's Witnesses are assholes. All of them HAVE assholes, however, and the ones that come to my door often walk away with two or three.
