Cable TV descramblers

Post by Shrykull »

I don't understand this, if there are illegal then why are their websites cabledescrablers.com which are allowed to sell them. I see a lot of ad's on tv about arresting people who sell them, why can they do it?

Chances are the website is running illegally. There are plenty of other things on the web that aren't legal but are still there.

I heard that if you even attempt to search for child porn you are breaking the law, and who has jurisdiction over stuff posted on the web? Do the laws that apply to it depend on what physical location the web server is at that has the posts on it? I remember even before Napster, there was a lyrics database that was seized by the police.

Its legal to have a descrambler in the US . Its only legall to actually be using one. Same with radar detectors, and radar/infrared jammers. Though I believe some states have now closed these loopholes to ban the possession or at least the sale.
