Homeopathy 'Explained'
YouTube link
It certainly SOUNDS scientific, what with obtuse references to 'einstein' and 'energy'. Of course, every time this woman says 'right' I imagine in her head she's saying 'please believe me and buy stuff'.

Ugh, I felt like I was watching Star Trek Voyager.
She can't even get her math right. If its essentially zero mass, then there is essentially zero energy. Its E = m MULTIPLIED by c^2 and anything multiplied by zero = zero. Yet she talks like its addition rather than multiplication. The remainder of our body that is not the actual mass is EMPTY SPACE.
And did she actually say we detect string vibrations with out ears? What a douche. Our ears are so piss poor, we can only detect a very limited spectrum of sound vibrations and she is going off saying they pick up all these other vibrations as well?
Disease can be treated with light and sound? Gee, you just got done telling us everything is energy. Then so is that little pill I get from my doctor and the pill has PROVEN results, unlike your speculative nonsense.
Your random chemicals you use aren't guaranteed to "transform ones energy to a previous better state". Hell, it might make the "energy state" worse!
She finishes by telling about a guy with a "squeaky knee" and preliminary signs of potential type-2 diabetes and then goes off on how he likes to think he is a man of his word? And treating his other symptoms based on that? You can't make this shit up. And I don't suppose you'd like to produce documentation of your success stories, would you? Didn't think so.

Its not a matter of not knowing how. Its a matter of it being IMPOSSIBLE.Energy cannot be created. We do not know how to create energy but we don't know how to destroy it either".

Its called "food" and "medication" dumbass. What if I could encase some sort of energy for later use?

Where'd you pull THAT one from?We either vibrate with a plant, a mineral or an animal

I'm concerned about a few things;
1. Its e=MC^2, she left out the 'squared'.
2. Its Stephen Hawking, not Hawkings. She got that wrong, too.

It was intermittent. She'd say the formula right and then leave off the 'squared' when explaining what the terms are.CaptainChewbacca wrote:1. Its e=MC^2, she left out the 'squared'.
Like I said before, the real goof is her thinking zero mass means nothing but energy. She doesn't even know what multiplying by zero does. For the term to be neglected or ignored like she wants, m needs to equal 1. Thats basic math taught in grade school.

One thing I never understood about Homoeopathy is how the water in the preparations is supposed to know which atoms 'energy', 'imprint' or whatever it's supposed to remember?
Any given water molecule must have been in proximity to any number of substances over it's existence, if it's in a homoeopathic preparation not least the packaging material.
I've put this question to several advocates of homoeopathy but unsurprisingly never got a meaningful response.

Yeah, this has been my favourite thing to point out too. Surely, if homeopathy worked, at concentrations less than one drop in all the world's oceans at that, then surely drinking some seawater will cure whatever ails you since it will have been in contact with everything through the water cycle and dilution.Plekhanov wrote:One thing I never understood about Homoeopathy is how the water in the preparations is supposed to know which atoms 'energy', 'imprint' or whatever it's supposed to remember?

Or be the most toxic substance known to science, of course.Zuul wrote: Yeah, this has been my favourite thing to point out too. So if massively diluting toxic substances makes them magically cure anything with similar symptoms to those caused by the toxins shouldn't sufficiently diluted beneficial substances have the similar opposite effects? As such shouldn't drinking some water that was once near some orange juice should give you scurvy or something?

I didn't know that diluting poisons made them healthy. I was under the impression that homeopathy increased the additive's abilities, which would render a toxin even more deadly.

Homeopathy has this weird pseudoscientific list of what things are "like" one another (where the "homo" comes from in the word) and the idea is that a diluted "toxin" will cure the ailment caused by things in that toxin's "like" list. For instance, they may put sulphur in a homeopathic solution to cure burns.DPDarkPrimus wrote:I didn't know that diluting poisons made them healthy. Homoeopathy is based on the premise that if you dilute something enough at some point it will start having kind of a mirror image effect of high doses of the chemical, hence my pondering if extremely diluted orange juice will give you scurvy.DPDarkPrimus wrote:I didn't know that diluting poisons made them healthy. Homeopathy is strikingly bold, in its own way. They come right out with strong declarative statements that have no basis whatsoever in fact, and then construct an entire complicated system of thought based on those statements.
Any one of us could do the same. Simply start with a completely arbitrary made-up premise, like "all living things contain psychic energy, and when you kill something, you can take part of its psychic energy into yourself", and you can easily construct a complicated pseudo-medicine system on that basis. You can also selectively interpret real-world information to suit the belief.

Could it even be described as pseudo-science? Homeopathy doesn't even try to explain how it works, unlike stuff like "Light therapy" which tries to dazzle you with big scientific words which are almost all out of context. Homeopathy is instead more like saying elephants can fly by eating monkey shit, JUST CAUSE.
