Can I get some help here?

Post by corporial »

I've been debating over 'science' in another forum http://forums.n-philes.com/showthread.p ... genumber=1 where it is basically scientific ignoramuses against a few people who can see through their BS. So far I have not been able to get through to them because I am inexperienced when it comes to debating. If anyone can help me out I would be very appreciative.
It started out with this:
Atheism is for smart people?
What an insane concept. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to simply shrug off religion as "bullshit". Before you enter the world of ignorance just keep in mind that theism is far more complicated, thought out, and logical that dumbasses that hide behind science to disprove faith (which in itself is downright childish).
http://www.leaderu.com/truth/1truth28.html
And turned in to this:
I don't think making fun of atheism is religious prejudice. It's making fun of animals.
If strange events are called an "act of God", then why aren't normal ones either?
Oh and another thing. Children and humans are naturally born with the belief in diety unless trained out of it. Religion can be traced back as far back as human existance itself.
But no scientific standard can be proven. None of it. To believe in science is like believing in a relegion.
You strike me as incredibly gullible if you don't understand that this is how science works. Evidence being exactly what I said before: just look through a textbook and see how many theories are taught in it. I see the value of teaching theories to grad students and people who will actually become scientists and further study these theories. But there's absolutely no reason to teach the Theory of Evolution to millions of grade school children with so little evidence supporting it.
This is a response to a rebuttal that I made.
quote:

Hmm so life can't just spontaneously pop-up out of nowhere? Congratulations science has said that for over a century. It truly is nice to hear from a Christian who does not believe in creationism.
Perhaps you would like to tell us how no spontaneous creation=no evolution though. Anyone who even knew what they were talking about would recognize that evolution has absolutely nothing to do with the first life form. Evolution simply deals with what happens after that first life appears. The currently accepted model for the formation of the first life is called Abiogenesis.

To be blunt, I'm doubting your mental process at this point. I have professed that I believe in Creationism. It's scientists who don't believe in it, yet this very scientific principle requires His existence. Re-read the boldened part, and if you don't immediately recognize how this absolutely has to point to God's hand in the creation of the first Earthly being, then just sit down before you hurt yourself.
And finally we end up with this atrocity:
Scientists definitely try to answer everything that can be questioned, ever, everywhere. Sometimes they don't answer things so much as they just question previous answers for no good reason. Scientists are rage-filled answer war monsters, and don't you forget it.
This pretty much sums up the stupidity some people have over there.

I'll go there...haven't been involved in any good theist bashing fares recently. I need practice, though seeing as it a NINTENDO forum for kiddies I'll propably get banned on day 1.

I don't think making fun of atheism is religious prejudice. It's making fun of animals.
Athesim is the stated Dis-belief in God... PERIOD, nothing else
If strange events are called an "act of God", then why aren't normal ones either?
Because when you slid of the road into a Hog waste Storage tank you don't say "Act of God or Thanks God" but when you win a million dollers you do

Oh and another thing. Children and humans are naturally born with the belief in diety unless trained out of it. Religion can be traced back as far back as human existance itself.
Reallly? Mmmm do they get the name of the Deity or any related info unless they are trained by the Culture.... More-over ask him to name what Eskimo's belived in(He'll have to dig for it but they don't have any sort of orgized religion at all)
But no scientific standard can be proven. None of it. To believe in science is like believing in a relegion.
Ask him how is he posting to said message board VIA a Computer created using Scientific Methods, Resaruched Via Scientific Methods and why using Science and removing is Bullets is a whole lot more effective then praying them out
Another fucktard who thinks Science is a Belief, damnit how far has that idiot idea spread?
Give them the strait up scientifc method(All six steps) and ask where Belief comes in

Scientists are rage-filled answer war monsters, and don't you forget it.
Your right I'm staggering at the stupidity

Three words: false dilemma fallacy.

They argue that either something is completely 100% guaranteed true, or it's no better than pure faith. Nothing is completely 100% guaranteed true apart from "I think therefore I am", so they have essentially nullified any and all fields of inquiry in their zeal to pretend that logic and direct observation of the physical universe are somehow no more reliable than religious faith.

Invite them to take the Mark 16:18 poison challenge in order to prove their faith. After all, it's just "science" that says cyanide is bad for you. Nowhere in the Bible is cyanide mentioned, and Mark 16:18 says it won't hurt the true believer anyway. Please, by all means, let them show us their glorious faith!
