Does anyone here believe in an Arch spirit of Evil?

This thread is not about Christian beliefs... Its about just one belief shared by many Christians. Do any of you believe in a Devil? Or something like it? I notice some Wiccans or whatever they call themselves refer to an evil energy source.

No.

Humans are quite accomplished enough at evil, without need to invoke the supernatural.

Actually, watching the clip was disturbing for me, not for reasons the author intended.

Replace the words "spiritual" with "insanity" and you'll get the idea.

I can't imagine any such creature that spends most of his time making humans suffer anything other than pathetic.

It's also disturbing to see these people blame everything on demons. It's like children. But then again, fundies are essentially children.

I believe in the need for cowards and weak-minded fools to abdicate responsibility for their crimes to an impersonal third party. Does that count?

I'm an agnostic. Its a possibility to me, but I don't think that counts as belief.

I sure hope their isn't.

To date there has been no concrete verifiable proof of ANY deity, demon, angel, ifrit, or pink unicorn outside of the religions works created by Man. Good and Evil are concepts and creations of Man.

The only Arch of Evil I believe in is plural, and they are Golden.

Someone needs to lurk more. And/or use the search function. Evil spirits are only taken seriously by folk whose mindsets haven't progressed much further than those held by some half-naked spear-chucking folk with bones through their noses living in the rainforest. There are no evil spirits in this world, only people insufficiently educated to know better.

Evil isn't some magical malign force that makes people do things. "Evil" is just a catch-all term for deliberate actions (or inaction) done by people that cause a great deal of harm, and really isn't a good one because of all the baggage associated with it. I would say that using "evil" in most circumstances cheapens it, makes things seem more cartoon caricature villainous, and that doesn't help us deal with real people doing actual bad things at all. If anything, thinking in terms of magical evil spirits makes it more difficult to prevent future acts of "evil," because people won't think of the actual causes of "evil" actions or inaction.

No, believing in an evil spirit is just as retarded as a good one. Evil is term used to describe acts that go against our system of morality, not a force of it's own.

And somebody delete that picture, it's breaking the formatting.

Sure I believe in an arch demon of evil, and of good.

It's called; the human mind.
I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.

It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

Adding to it, it's how we're wired, apparently. Humans have a natural tendency to anthropomorphize anything and everything, to think that everything has some intent to it. For instance, thinking that the clouds are intentionally raining on us to make us miserable, for instance. I'm not sure why (but I'm sure there are some hypotheses), but we are. Maybe it works better for some reason when living a hunter-gatherer lifestyle. Maybe it just wasn't harmful enough to keep people from being successful hunter-gatherers back in the day and we've just kept the baggage.

At any rate, it's one of those things that seriously hampers us now in a modern technological society, along with such things as our severe natural inability to think in proper statistical terms (no, your bracelet does not alter probability, and kissing it will not help you gain back your losses at the casino). It's something we really need to work on (for instance, through the mental training one can get from a proper education, emphasis on "proper").

On a mostly different note, I also want that ridiculously huge picture deleted. Could someone please kill it mercilessly?

Oh yeah, the spirits of evil. Silly people. Of course they exist. Those of you who watch cartoons in the 1980s would know that. Here they are in action

No, I don't believe in some all-powerful evil spirit, but like stark said, It's easier for small-minded idiots to rationalize the evil of others by believing in one.

On topic, I used to believe in such things. Then, as I matured, I realized that there was no proof or even a tiny little sign that the sky faerie or it's counterpart existed apart from what people had told me. My doubt made me read the Bible, and so I turned deist, sliding into agnostic. Then I came here and turned atheist.
