Same-sex gene manipulation and invitro..
What would the impact be of invitro gene combination of two members in a same-sex relationship? Do you think it's a good idea for those couples who want to have a child together but don't want to use someone elses DNA? Will this turn children into a commodity?

That would be hard. In essence you would be tailoring your own human being.
If you're taking male and male. Somehow you'd have to insert one of those genes into an egg. You'd need to take a chromosome probably out of teleokinesis II and insert it into a blank egg probably before it fully develops into a viable egg.. and even then I'm not sure it would..
yikes. Boggles the mind to try to think of the implications of trying to change one gamete into the other in a human.

Tho its not impossible to extract DNA from an egg, and replace it with the DNA of one of the fathers and then add sperm. In the case of two women it might be harder, because getting the DNA into a sperm for pseudonatural fertilisation is without a doubt much harder then getting it into an egg. Tho I'm not sure how hard to is to combine two eggs, I'm sure its quite hard to get them to actually grow.

As long as there are kids out there in need of adoption, I say this isn't the greatest of ideas.kojikun wrote:What would the impact be of invitro gene combination of two members in a same-sex relationship? The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

Gigantic technical difficulties, and as WP said, they could simply adopt. There is, after all, a considerable gulf between "possible" and "feasible", and then a similarly large gulf between "feasible" and "safe for public use".

Well, there aren't that many babies up for adoption - and not everyone feels up to taking on a child who's already been traumatised by the Foster system.Wicked Pilot wrote:As long as there are kids out there in need of adoption, I say this isn't the greatest of ideas.kojikun wrote:What would the impact be of invitro gene combination of two members in a same-sex relationship? At the moment, I'm not the biggest fan of IVF, because of the unethical piece of shit that is the IVF industry - not in the pracices themselves, but the way theyb milk desparate people for money and put their lives at risk.
All hail adoption! and/or accepting a life without kids.
