Creationism vs. Evolution thread at theForce.net
There's an individual named "_Darth_Brooks_"on the boards in that thread (in the Senate Forum) who I believe seriously needs the Imperial Smackdown (tm). He consistently argues against anything anti-fundamentalist and when I tore apart a fundie's weak arguement, he accuses me of stupidity and personal attacks. No one on the boards particularly likes him and his behavior has earned him several bannings. If anyone on the forum has an account on the JC forums, help delievering the smackdown to him there and elsewhere would be appreciated.

I read a significant portion of the thread, and it's a long one. Them's some serious assholery goin' down over them there parts.
There are a couple of ignorant creationists there, but that one guy you mentioned is equal parts Azeron and Creationist.
Frankly, the debate should have been squashed long ago on that thread, but the anti-creationists are letting themselves get dragged around in a variety of nasty and deliberately deceptive debate tactics. You just need to focus on one thing at a time, point out logical fallacies and errors, and try to pin the bastards down.

TF.N is full of bible thumpers and annoying ones at that.
Here's a good quote from a mod there

So basically you're not allowed to disagree with someone according to this one...Okay, I'm locking this thread since it's headed vastly off course.
And would people take this as a warning: Do NOT attack a person for their beliefs on a subject. Just because they believe in something that you do not does not give you right to question that.

Not really. Creationists come here if they enjoy getting ass-raped. They get slightly warmer receptions at SB.com or B5Tech, and they get a downright friendly reception at TheForce.Net.Wicked Pilot wrote:OK, let me get this straight. You see, one of the head TF.N guys (Josh) is a Southern Baptist (read: fundie idiot). I still remember how he ranted on the TF.N front-page about how Landover Baptist Church was an evil, evil, cruel and unfunny satire site that should be taken off the Internet (even though it's side-splittingly funny if you're not a fundie). I've also seen E-mail he sent to Galvatron (don't ask) about how people who seriously study the subject invariably see that evolution theory doesn't work

Well, there are some good creationist debunkers over there, especially Darth Snowdog (I am Lord_Darth_Bob, but I've grown very sick of the horseshit infecting the forums). Brownie points for those who've bothered to weather the bull and continue to fight for reason over there. Sadly I've grown disillusioned by Darth Brooks' trollfest.

Don't worry, Kelly. He wouldn't last a week over here. He may be a troll, an asshole, and an idiot, but the people on this board range from decent to extremely skilled debaters.
Users here like Stormbringer, Wong, Spanky and Bean have degrees in Troll-killing from the university of Trolldeath, and have since moved on to being professors of Trollhunting at WeHateTrolls College in Trollstomp, Notrollia.
We'd be fine against his particular brand of lunacy.

If I didn't know that there was nothing, I'd wish the Creationists would come up with something else that they think proves evolution wrong.
Irreducable Complexity and the "Ordered Universe" get tiring.
and Jesus......Darth Brooks is just.....I don't even know what to say, he doesn't even appear to register counter-arguments, he is fixed on his "truth" and automatically disregards any disagreement as wrong.
I'm really inclined to support a required IQ test before being allowed to procreate

I find it amusing how some people believe that religious freedom is the source of fundamentalist strength. That is bullshit; America has religious freedom on paper, but in practice, not only is there much greater church interference in government than in most other first-world nations, but there is one particular form of religious freedom which is almost nonexistent in North America: the freedom to criticize religion.
What's the first thing you hear out of some idiot fundie's mouth if you say something bad about the Bible? "How DARE you criticize someone's beliefs?" Why the fuck is it wrong to criticize someone's beliefs? Can someone explain that? What happens when you go to TheForce.Net and criticize the Bible? They shut you down and tell you that you can't criticize a belief system.
It is the fucking SACRED COW of Americans; their bizarre belief that it's OK to criticize anything and everything under the Sun ... unless it's a religion. That is why idiotic beliefs such as creationism are so easily taught in America; because they are "beliefs", people feel as if they're not allowed to cut loose on them the way they would against any other ideology (eg- communism), so they exist in a vacuum of criticism, controversy, or serious opposition.

If you'll notice, no one ever held Islam responsible for the attacks of September 11. "It wasn't the belief system's fault; people were perverting the belief system. Islam is a religion of peace, after all!"
Bullshit. Honestly, where exactly does everyone think they pull this stuff from? Thin air? It's all in the fucking Koran!
Why do you think America, as a whole, has such a hateful sentiment toward atheists? 90% of the American population seems to subscribe to the bizarre idea that "Religion = Spirituality = Good". Where the fuck does this come from? Why is spirituality suddenly the be-all and end-all of traits someone can have? What the fuck has prayer ever done for anyone in a physical capacity? Nothing.
What's even funnier is when you're accused of being "closed-minded" for simply not giving consideration to logically invalid ideas, like the existence of god. "Open-minded" has gone from meaning "tolerant and accepting of others' beliefs" to "fucking gullible." Hell, someone's "beliefs" or "cultural heritage" apparently trumps observed fact in Alabama!

For some reason, what you just said Durandal reminded me of a story I saw while flipping the channels. (I think it was Animal Planet or something, and they were having stuff about snakes on, so I stopped to see.)Durandal wrote: Why do you think America, as a whole, has such a hateful sentiment toward atheists? 90% of the American population seems to subscribe to the bizarre idea that "Religion = Spirituality = Good". Anyway, the story basically summed up was that this Reverend of a church in the Midwest where they do that snake-dancing shit (can't for the life of me remember what it's called) counter-acted his wife's accusations of cheating on her with another church-goer by putting a gun to her head, marching her out to the snake shed, and forcing her to choose between a bullet and a snake bite. (the snakes were two varities of rattlers, as I recall). Of course she got bit. All while he yelled shit about trusting her faith and whatnot. Then he promised to take her to the hospital. Did he? Of course not. He went to the liquor store (heh) and several other places, but never took her there.
Then as her hand blackened and basically looked like the claw of a mumified corpse, he forced her to write a false suicide note. The took her back to the shed for another bite. This time she didn't get bit. He repeated this again later, and she got bit a second time in the palm. The venom wen straight to her brain, and she barely survived. (she managed to call 911 after he'd passed out while she was fading in and out of consciousness.) She spent 12 days recovering from it.
Yep. Good 'ole "love your fellow man" type religious thing to do, Rev.
And people wonder why I'm a agnostic.

Indeed. But the point I was trying to make was that Christianity, and most/alot of it's sects or cults if you will, makes a damn hard attempt at pointing the finger at all us "heathens", while ignoring their own hypocrisy.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:What you are refering to is a cult, hardly representative of Christianity, even the Fundamentalists.
It is however, equal to JW.

Actually I can't come up with any war, that people haven't had a religious figure blessing the troops, hence spilling blood in the name of god.
